  • Barbera, when you ask most people their initial reaction to the name might yield blank stares, or worse. While Barbera is capable of producing some impressive wines it is also all too capable of producing pretty bad wines, both with capable winemaking and without. The problem lies with Barbera’s incredibly high natural acidity, and the issues th... Read More

  • With harvest truly getting underway in northern California, up to now it's ... Griotte-Chambertin $3001990 Giuseppe Rinaldi Barolo Brunate Le Coste $300 And then there’s the  2006 Antonelli San Marco Sagrantino di Montefalco ($75) which has to be the best value on this list, and I went through it pretty carefully. Yes it’s a bit of a tough and... Read More

  • Giuseppe Rinaldi Barolo Brunate le Coste 2009

    Snoothrank:

Smoky on the nose with deep notes of wild berry confiture topped with soil, tobacco, and rosebud aromas. This is dense, polished, and spicy on entry with wild berry fruit that shows a forest floor edge. Very tight today but with fabulous balance, this exhibits ripe tannins and integrated acids in a very elegantly balanced, if large scaled entry... Read More

  • Giuseppe Rinaldi Barolo Brunate le Coste 2009

    Snoothrank:

This has shockingly evolved nose right out of the battle with lots of sweet old wood, a little dirty and funky, lots of cured pork, with a bit of hay and quinine adding complexity. The dirty aromas blow off quickly revealing a tight core of wild yellow cherry fruit and dried citrus pith, with a balsamic note. This is showing superb freshness on... Read More

  • Giuseppe Rinaldi Barolo Barolo Brunate DOCG la Costa 2006

    Snoothrank:

2008, Hold 2018-2038-The 2008 Barolo Le Brunate is quite a bit richer, deeper and more powerful than the Cannubbio, as one might reasonably expect. Here the fruit boasts tons of pure resonance and stuffing while never losing its essential classicism. Plums, black cherries, leather, tar and licorice meld together, supported by firm yet beautifull... Read More
