Fèlsina. A name reaching back to Etruscan times. A feeling that infuses the air, in harmony with the quality of the light, with the earth’s scent and the fragrance of the breezes, with the march of the seasons and night time silences. Before the eye that ranges unencumbered in all directions, a metaphysical landscape takes shape. A wondrous unfolding of hills, none blocking its neighbour, all offering spacious spectra of colour, yellow to indigo, in luminous waves rolling to a horizon majestically profiled with an ancient volcano, Monte Amiata, beloved of the Etruscans, that enigmatic race that first offered the vine and the olive to the early civilization of the Italic peninsula. This en-lightened land lived an extraordinary moment in Italy’s history, witnessing, if only for a few moments, the dream come true of an ideal city: Siena. Siena of the 13th and 14th centuries, where nature and art crowned the creative genius of those dwelling in such favoured spaces. – Description Read more »

Fattoria di Felsina on Snooth

  • Felsina Fontalloro Toscana IGT 1999

    Snoothrank:

Tight, leather, earth, mint, a bit of smoky oak. Super focused with finesse. Elegant. Lovely savory edges. Licorice, huge finessed finish. This is very good. Layers of precise fruit, palate-staining flavor of black berry. Closes down on the finish, this needs some time to soften and open. 92 pts Read More

  • Fattoria di Felsina Toscana Fontalloro 1997

    Snoothrank:

Smoky, loamy, spice and leather. Open and broad, liquory/medicinal black cherry fruit. A bit raw, unripe tannins, good acid. Fine balance if a bit heavy on the edges, though clear with strawberry and a touch of prune. Nice snappy finish, candied dry fruit and mint on the finale. Clear. 89 pts Read More

  • Fattoria di Felsina Berardenga Maestro Raro Toscan Italy 2006

    Snoothrank:

The nose showed sweet cherry soda, medicinal herbs and coco powder. On the palate, an intense wave of cherry fruit wrapped the senses in sweet tannins, with a hint of savory beef reduction sauce in a full, velvety expression. The finish was gorgeous and haunting as notes of spiced cherry clung to the palate. This wine was pleasing on every level. Read More

  • Fattoria di Felsina Toscana Fontalloro 2000

    Snoothrank:

Read More
