Que Syrah Shiraz

Syrah, what an enigmatic grape.  I find myself describing great Syrahs with the word "beautiful."  Maybe it's the multifacitedness that they can bring, or the pure depth one can find.  Whatever it is, this grape deserves your interest and affection.  From Barossa to Sonoma, from Yakima to the Rhone, great Syrahs (Shirazes for the Aussies) can be found and at a very nice price due to the inexplicable neglect Syrah has seen in recent years.  I love this grape, and if you are at all thinking that you might be stuck in a Cabernet rut (we've all been there) maybe this can be your next great grape discovery.

This wine shows the great potential of Australian Shiraz. The nose is quite aromatic with chocolate, holiday spices, and cassis. The pallette is rich and unctuous with mocha, blackberry, baking chocolate and pepper. Very long finish. Silky smooth tannins.
