Bodegas Jorge Ordoñez is a winemaking venture formed in 2004 between the Kracher family from Austria and the Ordoñez famly from Spain, as well as various friends and wine-loving entrepreneurs, based in Malaga, Spain. The winery is overseen by brother and sister winemakers Jorge and Victoria Ordoñez and Alistair Gardner is principal winemaker. The above-mentioned Kracher is none other than Alois Kracher, known for producing some of the world’s most renown Austrian sweet dessert wines. His son, Gerhard, joined the project creatively in 2008.
The project is dedicated to producing dessert wine styles using modern innovations and techniques, made from the varietal Muscat of Alexandria. Among an impressive portfolio, they are the first in modern history to produce a naturally sweet, unfortified Moscatel wine. This method has not been produced since sweet fortified wines gained popularity in the 17th century when brandy was added to the wine to stabilize Read more »

  • Living in Sonoma County my cellar is pretty Cali-Centric. I mean in an earthquake it just may break off and fall into the Pacific Ocean. So tonight I'm going with something completely different. I picked up an El Nido Clio 2008 that I'm giving a test drive to see if I want more. Anything other than California wine or Rhones and I am treading on ... Read More

This wine is great- my husband and I first had it at a wine tasting and loved it right away, along with the majority of the people there. We took home a bottle and kept it chilled for many a months. We just cracked it open and, once again, we not disappointed. The wine is smooth and velvety. It has a citrus flavour and would pair very nicely... Read More

  • I am always impressed with how some people, mostly real wine experts have learned to pick out many specific flavors in a wine. Once in a while a specific flavor jumps out at me, which is sometimes good, sometimes bad. I remember in France, they would sell these kits with maybe 50 or more bottles, each containing different important smells to he... Read More

ALC. 13.5% by Volume. 100% Tempranillo. This wine adds to my suspicion about pure Tempranillo. While pleasant it lacks the complexity which is offered by the addition of the grenache varietal. Read More
