Bota Box on Snooth

  • Last week in A Sneak Peek at ZAP Festival Zinfandels, we went through some of ... of sits there. 85pts.2009 Bota Box Old Vine Zin 14%, $18 for 3LLight and fruity with gentle chocolate, herb and spice notes. Very cherry, very plum pudding spice. A touch sweet, which gives this a decidedly lush feel. This flavors are a bit dark and a touch confe... Read More

  • Bota Box Malbec 2009

    Snoothrank:

Strange green apple taste for the first few weeks which dissipated over time. Rather boring on the pallet but easy on the wallet. Will try their Shiraz before abandoning Bota. Read More

  • Bota Box Old Vine Zinfandel 2011

    Snoothrank:

I bought a box of the 2009 based on the nice packaging and the Cal State fair review on the 2008......of 95 no less. Due to the economy killing my preferred higher end normal purchases I have been trying box wines for a so called everyday wine. So far I have liked the Black Box Cab(84 my score), didn't like Black box Shiraz, and the Big House re... Read More

  • Bota Box Shiraz 2009

    Snoothrank:

Not much aroma, ok taste. This costs the equivalent of $4.60 per bottle, which is more than the $2.75 per bottle of Oak Leaf Shiraz I normally buy at Walmart.I prefer the Oak Leaf to this Bota. Time will tell if the freshness advantage of the box is worth the premium. Read More

  • Bota Box Old Vine Zinfandel 2011

    Snoothrank:

I'm trying out a box wine in search of a convenient and drinkable daily jug wine. The Bota Box claims an approximate 45 day freshness after opening and at $17.50 it's less than 4.5 per bottle! Double Dip Recession, bring it on!As to be expected from a box, the wine is by no mean rich, complex or packing an old vine Zin wallop. Blackberry, sligh... Read More
