  • I bought the Parallel 39 for about $15. Here are my notes: very, very berry on the nose, blackberry like and smell memories of a Beaujolais got me worried what was to come next but it was a mini-explosion of flavor-- almost Bordeaux like--  and then back to the cheap berry taste.  WTF? Overall very pleasant , but totally unexpected. Drunk with v... Read More

  • Was reading that WB thread also, seems like the flames are dying down a bit. From my limited experience with Bedrock, their wines need time.Anyway, this one is spot on. Reliving a bit of our summer Alsace trip as Paul Blanck was one of the wineries we visited. Ordered a 6 pack from our local winestore and paid $35 per. Pulled out the tasting she... Read More

  • To celebrate the. Buck hanging in my garage from this morning' hunt, I decided to be brave and saber the 25 year old Cooks that was recently found in my basement. Yep Cooks, you heard that correct. Plenty of pressure and a clean break. Nice bubbles and a golden almost not quite pinkish hue. Very earthy with a hint of cranberry. I like it. Cheap ... Read More

  • This was what we enjoyed last night while you all were playing secret santa. It's from the Barbi virtual tasting of a couple years back. This one was sporting a fruity palate with plenty of chalky tannins. Still a mere toddler. Dava really liked it. i had to start rationing her pours so she didn't get inebriated before the main course arrived at... Read More

  • OT, takes one to know one!BTW, that '09 Brunello is one to jump on now, too.  That vintage is more forward and riper than my typical choices in BdM, definitely not for the cellar at this point.  But it's Lisini, and they don't bottle it as BdM if it doesn't meet standards, so it's going to be tasty with a Bistecca Fiorentina or some rabbit ragu.  Read More

  • JD, you got it!  And, yes, normally, Damilano is a mid-packer with that Cinquevigne blend.  But I couldn't resist when I read the reviews, looked up the winemaking, and, since you were interested in Piedmont but I didn't want to give something that wouldn't be drunk for two decades, realized 2011 is the vintage.  All the Brunate, none of the wai... • Wow.  I'd seen the post by Tom Hill a few days ago.  OK, it wa a "Meh" report.  He's always seemed to be a knowledgeable and reasonable guy, and that is his opinion.  It is worth considering.  So, file it away.  With your comment, here, I went over to WB to see what is going on and found that other 2-page thread. You have to shake your head when ... • Well that leaves Lucha or Paul for my SS.  Lucha would have given me a Quilceda Creek, Leonetti or other Washington, so Paul must be my guy!  Thanks Paul...a great choice and I'll report on it's brilliance when I drink it years from now :) Read More
