http://www.spittoon.biz/on_french_wine_and_food.html a bargain for its silky palate, fine structure and berry-led flavours. There is more to the wine than a simple berry-fest though, a fine complexity of spice and thigh-hugging leather makes a recent G...

A well-made wine. The character of the cabernet sauvignon really comes through with great fruit flavor and a fine structure. A steal at under $10.
|Region:||Australia » Victoria » Port Phillip » Yarra Valley|
Full of blackcurrant fruits on the nose, finely oaked on the palate, while releasing rich fruits on the aftertaste. Fine wine.
|Region:||USA » California » Mendocino County » Anderson Valley|
|Varietal:||Chardonnay , Pinot Noir|
Pale yellow color in the glass. Notes of green apples with just a touch of mineral. Fine mousse. There is an acidic undertone but it is not overly prominent. This wine was dry but not exceptionally so.

Another fine wine from Brander. Off-dry Sauvignon Blanc blended with Riesling, Pinot Blanc, and Pinot Gris. Floral on the nose, nice tropical fruit in the mouth. Excellent summer picnic wine.

Opens up with a clear lemony nose. This wine is very fizzy, although the bead is fairly fine. Overall, its a light champagne, with a delicate biscuit flavor. Nice

I thought this was a fine dessert wine. This wine was rich and sweet (but not at all cloying) with a slightly oily texture. An exquisite floral character was present with traces of coriander and peach.

Light and playful but appley, citrussy with some weight. Very fine bubbles with a "hazy, natural appearance". Long lasting yeastiness. http://www.spittoon.biz/artisan_vine_londons_best_wine.html

This is the first taste for me of the 2009 Fontenil (it has been lying patiently in the cellar for about 3 years). This is a deep, Merlot-red wine with a fragrance of fine Kirsch and wet sphagnum. There is white pepper (light) with bright cherry (poss...

This fine trip to the vineyards of deep Mexico is reminiscent of my deepest child nightmares. Hints of bathtub urine, rusty nails, and the anal seepage of a tired field worker. Pairs well with deep dungeon torture, self inflicted gun shot wounds, and nothing short than the entire Saw series This wine is like a sumo wrestler's jockstrap, aft... Read More
Enjoying this nice Sancerre while visiting the folks here in Michigan this ... ... They're mainly in the fine wine/beer/liquor business now. Picked up this Sancerre, a Latour 1er cru Montagny and a Pira Barolo ('11).This Sancerre is quite nice, plenty of that Sauv Blanc white grapefruit (but not over the top) that is tempered with a touch of h... That sounds like a very fun evening, OT. OK, two fun evenings.Tonight I am revisiting one that I had a few months ago.Previously, I had ragged on some bitterness in this wine. However, it is so reasonably priced I went back and tried it again. That was pretty good. So, it was so cheap I tried it again. That was pretty good, too. So, here i... Read More
Great little number of a drier style Riesling. Wine Maker's notes are quite accurate: 'On the nose, fine mineral fragrance with ginger, caraway seed, underripe pineapple, and flowers. There are flavors of white peach, quince and lemon on the palate with a lingering, clean and dry finish.' I liked its dry rather than sweet profile. Read More
Under the stairs - does that mean that it is triangular and the stairs are kind of the "ceiling"? If you want to keep a place cool, you need to insulate it and it's tricky to insulate stairs!As far as cooling, you can use a small air conditioner - it will go down to about 60 and that's fine. You can trick it into going lower if you want and it w... Read More
Hello everyone, I am relatively new to wine collecting and I'd like to establish a storage area in my house to store and age wine.I have a unique space in my house that would be really cool to convert to a "wine cellar", but I'm not sure how to prepare it. It is a space under my stairs, that is built out as a small storage room. My kids have use... Read More
Pool day today therefore I started with scotch then went on to this nice value play of a 2014 Daniel Cohn Cabernet. I picked this up yesterday for 16.99 at Total Wine. What an excellent wine for the $$$. Lots of black-blueberry fruit, good complexity with some mocha and a touch of spiciness. A very multilayered wine for the $$$. Medium to long f... Read More
Yeah Greg, the thing about Cinema is we unconsciously think the actors and actresses continue to look as they did in the movies we saw them in. Am sure it took a lot of physical training and dieting and makeup to get the two as presentable as they were in the most recent Star Wars iteration. Harrison Ford, plane crash and all, seems to have weat... Read More
Post here about wines that used to satisfy, but for whatever reason (corporate buyout, founder dying, price gouging or other repositionings resulting from lusting lunges towards greater monetary reward, etc., etc. ad nauseum) have either disappeared or now become a disappointment. The more story, the better.I'll get the ball rolling with some si... Read More
Interestingly enough, was an offer from our friend Ian Cauble that falls right within this thread's discussion: Massimo Clerico, Nebbiolo, Lessona DOC Piedmont, Italy 2008 If there is one lesson that is common amongst all the great red wines of the world, it is that nothing can substitute for optimal bottle age. You can decant a young wine t... Read More
