Think berries flavour yet not too jammy, and with fine oak underlying. Quite a good wine.
|Region:||Australia » Victoria » Port Phillip » Yarra Valley|
Full of blackcurrant fruits on the nose, finely oaked on the palate, while releasing rich fruits on the aftertaste. Fine wine.
|Region:||USA » Texas » Gillespie County » Texas Hill Country|
A well-made wine. The character of the cabernet sauvignon really comes through with great fruit flavor and a fine structure. A steal at under $10.
|Region:||USA » California » Yolo County » Clarksburg|
|Varietal:||Mourvèdre , Petite Sirah , Zinfandel|
rating 88. This is a smooth very well balance wine with not toomuch fruit that normally zinfandels exibit. The nose is well balance but not very pronouced. Fine tannins , very elegant Blend.
|Winery:||Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin|
|Region:||France » Champagne|
|Varietal:||Pinot Noir , Chardonnay , Pinot Meunier|
Nice nose with biscuit and toast. On the palate the wine has a great crisp, dry character with mineral notes. Fine mousse with a great mouthfeel. I really liked this champagne.
|Region:||Italy » Friuli-venezia Giulia » Venezie Igt|
Fresh. Fine acidity makes this a fairly non-flabby wine (lot of "F"s there). A very good quality Pinot Grigio.
|Winery:||Viña La Reserva de Caliboro|
|Region:||Chile » Central Valley » Maule Valley|
If you can find it -- awesome. Very fine tannins lean and gripping with generous fruit that opens slowly after decanting. Decant this wine.
|Region:||France » Champagne » Montagne & Val de Reims » Grande Montagne de Reims » Reims|
Opens up with a clear lemony nose. This wine is very fizzy, although the bead is fairly fine. Overall, its a light champagne, with a delicate biscuit flavor. Nice
|Winery:||The Brander Vineyard|
|Region:||USA » California » Santa Barbara|
Another fine wine from Brander. Off-dry Sauvignon Blanc blended with Riesling, Pinot Blanc, and Pinot Gris. Floral on the nose, nice tropical fruit in the mouth. Excellent summer picnic wine.
|Winery:||Chateau St. Jean Winery & Vineyards|
|Region:||USA » California » Sonoma County|
Tasted April 2010: A very fine effort. The colour is deep. The wine has a wonderful perfume of intense black berry fruit and a soft oakiness, with some elegant spiciness. The taste is marvelous, deep, smooth, rounded and concentrated, with well-integra...

Vin0Vin0,Your logic was spot on in guessing Foxall- I did buy the L'Autre from the Wine Mine. I decided to seek out Dave Sharp's expertise knowledge with wine to find a nice CA Rhone blend. I had ruled out a French Rhone due to the fact that I am pretty inexperienced with French Rhones. I researched wines that you liked, and saw Tablas at th... Read More
Not that I am aware of. I always look at the restaurant website for the winelist. Or, if you want one up to date, most fine dining establishments will email or fax you a copy of their current list. Read More
The nose is a beautiful amalgam of details that presents as one complex impression, later flashing fine components over time in the glass. There is solid (and still youthful) black cherry and black cherry skins, laced with Asian spice and a core of mushroom all forming the foundation, with a layer of dark incense and plenty dried herbs on top. My Rating 86; Some concoction out of different left over wine that taste fairly delightful. Would not buy a case. Nose is fine with well balanced fruit Read More
Quite dark in the glass, and with the nose--sharp somewhat chemically--this one looks like a brute. On the palate, though, those thoughts diminish. It's quite easy going on the initial entry. Not terribly fruity and it flows easily over the tongue. Then on the sides and back of the tongue the tannin hits along with some heat. Suddenly, we'r... Read More
Thanksgiving for all intents and purposes has arrived. Sure there's some last minute shopping you might have to do but the guests are invited, the menu is planned, the table setting prepared and the wine purchased. Right?Well if not you have tons of suggestions ranging from the more traditional Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, which continue to be qui... Read More

Yes, Syrah and lamb is a natural, but it also goes fine with beef--but I hold out for cabs and the like usually when having beef. I think the spiciness of the wine also means Syrah can handle gamier foods. And lighter styles, like St. Joseph, can pair really well with a fish course as well. I make a grilled cod with tomato water and oil cured... Read More
