Great fruit on the nose, cherry, plum, berry, with a medium body. Lingers well with plum and a touch of oak. However, the 2008 vintage is MUCH better!!!
I love me some Pinot
This was my "epiphany wine" for Oregon Pinot noir beginning with my first sip circa 1986. I had it many times between then and 2009 but here are the tasting notes for my last bottle: 1983 Yamhill Valley Vineyards Oregon Pinot noir: this is the last bottle I’ll probably ever have of my “epiphany” wine; medium-dark ruby color with virtually no sign of age; initially I got a very Burg-like nose (dare I say Dujac?); a mix of red and black cherry fruit with some spiciness in the background; still remarkably “young” with acidity still in evidence and balanced by the fruit; I even got a slight bit of tannin on the long finish; incredible for a nearly 26-year old wine even though I had inadvertently stirred the sediment up a little bit; [6/11/09] at home with The Tuesday Group That Meets on Thursday. Oh, how I wish I had more. Email me at email@example.com if you have any you want to sell or trade.
Food Pairings for Yamhill Valley Pinot Noir
This is a wine of finesse and delicacy, which resulted from a typical year of Oregon weather. More rain at the end of the growing season led to a less concentrated wine that resembles garnet in hue and has a prominent smokiness in the nose. A unique wine thanks to the climate. This wine received the bronze medal at the NW Wine Summit, a wine competition among wineries in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and British Columbia. Enjoy with lamb or meaty fish such as salmon.
7000 cases produced.
Notes: 98% French Oak, 2% American Oak
