Voted Best of Class, Gold, in the 2014 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, this idyllic California Chardonnay will greet you with warm and inviting toasted oak, caramel, and green apple aromas. Your palate will uncover creamy, honey-drenched flavors of tropical pear, lemon and preserved orange peel. Supple vanilla notes follow the complex, fruit forward opening. These Chardonnay grapes were ripened to perfection, creating an impeccable yet gentle sweetness straight through to the finish. Pair your glass with Rice Pilaf, Potato Gratin, or Fusilli Pasta with Peas and Feta.
Growing Region Santa Maria Valley is one of the few coastal areas in the Western Hemisphere that is bordered on the north and south by east-west mountain ranges. Extended hang times and rich soils create unique depth & complexity. Regarding technique, 85% of the 2012 vintage was fermented in French Oak, underwent malolactic fermentation, and was aged sur lie for 5 months to enhance mouth-feel. Just 15% of the juice was fermented in stainless steel with no malolactic fermentation.This Chardonnay has aromas of orange blossom, tropical fruit, and vanilla, with many layers of flavors. It has a good dose of minerality, good acidity, and lots of length on the finish.
