Zichichi Family Vineyard and Winery is family owned and operated in the heart of zinfandel country in Dry Creek Valley. Zinfandel and Petite Sirah vines were originally planted on St. George root stock in 1920.The vineyard, which is head-pruned and grows in rocky, gravelly soil, begins on a hill and rolls down to Dry Creek. My wife and I purchased the vineyard in 2000 and have been designing and planning the winery since that time. Construction was completed in the summer of 2006 thus helping to ensure the culmination of my dream of raising my family in the wine country. Traditional winemaking techniques are utilized in our wines allowing for the clearest expression of the vineyard. Our wines are of superlative quality and thus require a great deal of sacrifice. The wines are aged 20 months in French and American Oak and blended for the final product. Come visit our new winery complete with a rustic tasting room and enjoy a picnic overlooking the vineyard. – Description from Dragac

  • Zichichi Cabernet Sauvignon Pyramid Vineyard 2013

Very dark in the glass. Nose of dark fruit. Dark fruit on entryblackberry, blueberry. Still quite stiff tannin. With the acid content, I think this one would be fine laying sideways for a few more years. Read More

  • Zichichi Family Vineyards Old Vine Estate Zinfandel 2013

This wine still has a pretty big hit of red raspberry on entry, but that diminishes quickly. Towards mid-palate I get an earthiness. Tannins are very sedate compared to my previous experience with this wine over a year ago. Tannin and acid are supportive, providing backbone, but are much more in balance with the wines fruit. I liked this win... Read More

  • Zichichi Family Vineyards Old Vine Estate Zinfandel 2013

Very deep purple color. Surprisingly red-fruited on entry. I get a fair amount of red raspberry. This is followed by a somewhat bitter earthiness. Then some stiff tannin kicks in which gives it a lot of masculinity. The slight bitterness may be an offshoot of the tannin. Read More

  • Zichichi was definitely not a destination. We were lured in by his barrel tasting sign out front.  We enjoyed the visit and the tasting.  Turns out Mr. Zichichi was a doctor in New Orleans who pulled up stakes after Katrina and changed careers as well.   Read More

  • I love everything about this winery - the wines are great, the owner is amazing, the patio is a lovely place to sit to enjoy the wine. I think this is a must stop on any wine tour in Sonoma (Russian River Valley/Healdsburg area).
