  • Location is Forestville CA. in the middle of the RRV. I am about 12 minutes from Charles Shulz Sonoma County Airport (STS). You can fly direct to STS from SEA, PDX , SAN and LAX for a price or Airport Express runs busses from SFO and OAK to STS. The bus runs every hour on the 1/2 hour from OAK and SFO. The ride to STS is 2hr 15min. $34 per adult... Read More

  • Languedoc tonight.  Clavel... a highly recommended domaine producing wines that far exceed most CdR Villages wines - especially given the 52% Syrah blend (26% Mourvedre, the rest Grenache Rouge).  Seek it out for stews and sausage dishes. In response to the Vina Paso Robles query, I believe the wine was Red 4, which is a very decent wine for the ... • Hello:A bit of a long question, I apologize. I'm trying to train my palate and learn blind tasting by assembling groups of 100% varietal wines that are (supposedly) true representative.Right now I want to assemble a group of wines that will illustrate how to differentiate Argentine Malbec from Carmenere, and pick out similar wines. I don't even ... Read More

  •  Since my queries of this nature are usually tagged to the end of other threads of (somehwat) related nature, I figured I'd start one of dedicated nature. Hopefully this'll be easier to search for and come back to in the future. Here's an offer from HDH in Chicago. Anything of particular interest, or of relatively good pricing? This offer seems a... • Z-52 Zinfandel Lodi Old Vine Agnes' Vineyard 2006

    Snoothrank:

Sweet and quite ripe on the nose, with slightly syrupy notes of candied strawberry and cherry, backed up with toasty wood notes and some rather raw wood and green herb aromas emerging with air. Has a bit of astringent tannin through the mouth though theres nice freshening acidity here as well. Its really disjointed with everything sort of sticki... Read More

  • Z-52 Zinfandel Truchard Vineyard Napa Valley 2006

    Snoothrank:

Very sweet-smelling and somewhat stewy-smelling with low, chocolatey, slightly pruny fruit, and chocolate-covered cherry top notes. Nicely medium-bodied in the mouth, with a nice, fresh feel to both the tannins and the acidity. This is fairly medium-bodied with a very easy-drinking styled mid-palate full of red currant and jammy strawberry fruit... Read More
