Yamhill Valley Vineyards is located on a 150 acre estate in the rolling foothills of Oregon's Coast Range Mountains, one hour southwest of Portland in the Willamette Valley. The heart of our wine making is dedicated to Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc. We believe that the distinctive, rich character of our wines is created in the vineyard and reaches full potential through the timely application of attentive wine making practices. While keenly aware of traditional methods, we are committed to exploring new technologies and innovative techniques. Since our first vintage in 1983 our wines have consistently won top honors in tastings and judgings across the nation. Our 1983 Pinot Noir was the first place preference in the famous Wine Center in New York City. From our beginning we have been stubbornly dedicated to the pursuit of a character that is distinctively Oregon and distinctively Yamhill Valley. Our goal is to bring forth from this unusual and exciting property the finest possible expression Read more »

  • Oregon's warmest growing season in recorded history, 2014, is brimming with bounty. With bud break, bloom and véraison all taking place about two to three weeks earlier than average, Oregon vintners can officially put the 2014 growing season in the record books. A warmer than average spring with just the right amount of rain triggered an early b... • I’ve been through this so many times before that it becomes rote. The differences between Pinot Gris and Pinot Grigio. Well, there really aren’t any, when we are referring to the grapes. One is the name in French while the other is the name in Italian. When it comes to the wines though, there remains some distinction, though that is disappearing... Read More

  • Hi Ed,As an Oregon Native and wine-enthusiast (in training), you could not have picked a better state to traverse for Pinot Noir.  Any suggestions I could give you would solely be based on my bias of the small number of wineries that I have visited.  But here goes my 2 cents . . .Oregon is broken up into several AVAs . . . in Southern Oregon you... • Pinot noir has become the great alternative. When you don’t want to give another big red wine as a gift it opens up a world of possibilities. Immediately appreciated by name alone, Pinot seems to have developed a certain cachet as the thinking man’s red wine, though there is little evidence to support that. Perhaps it comes from the history that... Read More
