Yamhill Valley Vineyards is located on a 150 acre estate in the rolling foothills of Oregon's Coast Range Mountains, one hour southwest of Portland in the Willamette Valley. The heart of our wine making is dedicated to Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc. We believe that the distinctive, rich character of our wines is created in the vineyard and reaches full potential through the timely application of attentive wine making practices. While keenly aware of traditional methods, we are committed to exploring new technologies and innovative techniques. Since our first vintage in 1983 our wines have consistently won top honors in tastings and judgings across the nation. Our 1983 Pinot Noir was the first place preference in the famous Wine Center in New York City. From our beginning we have been stubbornly dedicated to the pursuit of a character that is distinctively Oregon and distinctively Yamhill Valley. Our goal is to bring forth from this unusual and exciting property the finest possible expression Read more »

  • Yamhill Valley Vineyards Pinot Noir Reserve 2014

    Snoothrank:

Tomato leaf and cranberry aromas with black cherry and mineral tar notes that are smoky and savory. Palate is red fruited, candied and medium light in body with a medicinal backbone and a touch of flower petals on the mid palate. Finishes tarry and smoky with a cherry cola sweetness. Read More

  • Yamhill Valley Vineyards Pinot Gris 2015

    Snoothrank:

Light, fruity aromas of peach and green apple with an oat straw note adding a bit of creaminess. White peach, tart apple and pear on the palate, a zesty mid palate and a cool breezy finish, this is fruit forward, flavorful and refreshing. Read More

Erik joined the Willakenzie team earlier this year to head up winemaking operations. Enjoy these excerpts from my conversation with Erik.MA: Tell me a little bit about your winemaking history. • Riesling could be eclipsing Chardonnay as a go-to white wine grape for wine drinkers. My definition of wine drinkers here includes folks who don’t drink wine on a regular basis, but know a few grapes by name when ordering at a restaurant or picking up a bottle for a special occasion. This says a whole lot about Riesling. Many perfectly fine indi... Read More

There was some talk of Limerick Lane (has a nice ring to it) on here recently, I believe Mark has some of the wines. • Oregon's warmest growing season in recorded history, 2014, is brimming with bounty. With bud break, bloom and véraison all taking place about two to three weeks earlier than average, Oregon vintners can officially put the 2014 growing season in the record books. A warmer than average spring with just the right amount of rain triggered an early b... • I’ve been through this so many times before that it becomes rote. The differences between Pinot Gris and Pinot Grigio. Well, there really aren’t any, when we are referring to the grapes. One is the name in French while the other is the name in Italian. When it comes to the wines though, there remains some distinction, though that is disappearing... Read More
