Founded in 1983 by Oregon native, Jim Bernau, with the dream of creating world-class Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley Vineyards has grown from a bold idea into one of the region’s leading wineries, earning the title “One of America’s Great Pinot Noir Producers,” from Wine Enthusiast Magazine. Willamette Valley Vineyards approach is to grow, by hand, the highest quality fruit to produce wines of distinction, that are truly expressive of the varietal and the place where they are grown. All the vineyards, the Estate Vineyard, Tualatin Estate, and Elton vineyard, have been certified sustainable through LIVE (Low Input Viticulture and Enology) and Salmon Safe programs since 1997. In 2007, Willamette Valley Vineyards became the first winery in the world to use sustainable cork stoppers certified by the Rainforest Alliance and Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) standards. In 2010, Willamette Valley Vineyards released their first Oregon Certified Sustainable Wine (OCSW). Willamette Valley Vineyards commitment Read more »

  • In a world where extremes are becoming the paradigms for perfection its a little surprising that one doesn’t hear much of the wines of Saxony. Strike that. One doesn’t hear anything about these wines. And that is not surprising because the production is tiny and the wines almost all consumed locally. But you should be hearing about these wines, ... • Willamette Valley Vineyards Pinot Gris 2012

    Snoothrank:

A bit earthy with hints of dried apple fruit on the nose along with a spicy, honeycomb like character. Elegant and fresh in the mouth, this is transparent and dances on the palate. Neither rich nor intense, this is more a wine of finesse with zesty apple fruit and a touch of river stones on the palate and through the moderately long, grapefruit ... Read More

  • I was recently in Oregon, for the annual International Pinot Noir Celebration, which is a splendid reason to visit Oregon’s wine country, though you don’t need such motivation to be wowed by what you’ll find in McMinnville and the surrounding areas. While tons of Pinot were in fact tasted and consumed during that long weekend, today I want to ta... Read More

  • Brick House Cascadia Chardonnay Willamette Valley 2011

    Snoothrank:

almost no new wood Funky lees notes lend an earthy cast to the unusually violet tinged nose. Very bright and precise in the mouth with hints of peachy fruit and dusty chalkiness. There are lots of subtle funky undertones here, with great freshness in the mouth, clean and long with brilliant fruit and fine minerality on the long, elegant and ref... Read More

  • Brick House Cascadia Chardonnay Willamette Valley 2012

    Snoothrank:

Significantly more new wood A bit funky and decidedly mineral one the nose with white peppery and sweet oaks spice accenting the base of slightly white floral notes with tropical fruit peels. Elegant and broad in the mouth with some stuffing to it, but this is very soft on the plate considering the weight, though it turns clean, fresh, and preci... Read More
