Founded in 1983 by Oregon native, Jim Bernau, with the dream of creating world-class Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley Vineyards has grown from a bold idea into one of the region’s leading wineries, earning the title “One of America’s Great Pinot Noir Producers,” from Wine Enthusiast Magazine. Willamette Valley Vineyards approach is to grow, by hand, the highest quality fruit to produce wines of distinction, that are truly expressive of the varietal and the place where they are grown. All the vineyards, the Estate Vineyard, Tualatin Estate, and Elton vineyard, have been certified sustainable through LIVE (Low Input Viticulture and Enology) and Salmon Safe programs since 1997. In 2007, Willamette Valley Vineyards became the first winery in the world to use sustainable cork stoppers certified by the Rainforest Alliance and Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) standards. In 2010, Willamette Valley Vineyards released their first Oregon Certified Sustainable Wine (OCSW). Willamette Valley Vineyards commitment Read more »

  • Back in July, I proposed a West Coast Pinot Noir throwdown on the Snooth forums.  In what was a pot-luck twist on one of Gregory dal Piaz’s “Drink My Wine” events, I suggested that any Snooth forum posters could congregate in my neck of the woods—Oakland, California—and bring a bottle of their favorite Pinot Noir from whatever region they think ... • Willamette Valley Vineyards Riesling Oregon 2011

    Snoothrank:

Tight and chalky on the nose with faint aromas of white fruits, apples and flowers. Sweet on entry and rather viscous in the mouth this has some treale flavors early on the palate followed by peach jam and baked apple. rather soft in the mouth, this could use some more acid to liven things up a bit. Theres actually probably a good amount of acid... Read More

  • Amity Vineyards Riesling Willamette Valley Wedding Dance 2010

    Snoothrank:

Dusty and earthy on the nose with dried rose petal, thistle and balsamic aromas. Sweet and smooth in the mouth with enough acidity to add some liveliness to the citrus flavors but not enough to lighten up the texture. theres some nice apple, lemon and peach flavors here but they are pretty simple and disappear quickly on the modest finish. 84pts Read More

  • Willamette Valley Vineyards Riesling 2012

    Snoothrank:

Wonderfully fragrant with an early hint of green anise seed adding complexity to the sweet lime, guava and slightly red fruited apple aromas. Slightly sweet and yet mineral on entry, theres lots of fresh apple and jammy citrus flavors here adding complexity as well. The acidity is well balanced so while this is noticeably sweet, its also attract... Read More
