Founded in 1983 by Oregon native, Jim Bernau, with the dream of creating world-class Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley Vineyards has grown from a bold idea into one of the region’s leading wineries, earning the title “One of America’s Great Pinot Noir Producers,” from Wine Enthusiast Magazine. Willamette Valley Vineyards approach is to grow, by hand, the highest quality fruit to produce wines of distinction, that are truly expressive of the varietal and the place where they are grown. All the vineyards, the Estate Vineyard, Tualatin Estate, and Elton vineyard, have been certified sustainable through LIVE (Low Input Viticulture and Enology) and Salmon Safe programs since 1997. In 2007, Willamette Valley Vineyards became the first winery in the world to use sustainable cork stoppers certified by the Rainforest Alliance and Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) standards. In 2010, Willamette Valley Vineyards released their first Oregon Certified Sustainable Wine (OCSW). Willamette Valley Vineyards commitment Read more »

  • I get it. Not all of us have the time to research wine. Diving into the details to find that perfect bottle. No, for many of us buying wine this time of year is just something we have to do. It’s not that you don’t love wine, it’s simply that there isn’t the time, or the impetus to spend inordinate amounts of time deciding, and searching for wha... Read More

  • Pinot noir has become the great alternative. When you don’t want to give another big red wine as a gift it opens up a world of possibilities. Immediately appreciated by name alone, Pinot seems to have developed a certain cachet as the thinking man’s red wine, though there is little evidence to support that. Perhaps it comes from the history that... Read More

Stemmy and almost a bit minty on the nose with sage and balsam layered over vanilla framed raspberry fruit. • Eyrie Vineyards Pinot Noir Willamette Valley 2010

    Snoothrank:

Earthy, spicy and a little meaty on the nose with lots of beet root and old wood aromas. Rich and almost lush on entry with super acids perking up the midplate and supporting lovely wild raspberry and slightly red curranty fruit. The tannins are ever so edgy, adding some mouthgrab here. This is elegant and refined with a sneaky sweetness to the ... Read More

  • Willamette Valley Vineyards Estate Chardonnay 2010

    Snoothrank:

Quite mineral and almost chalky on the nose with aromas of apple skins and apricot topped by smoky minerals and a very fine oak shading. Tight and acid driven in the mouth with clean, fresh fruit flavors that are a little subdued and framed by gently creamy oak notes. Theres a touch of hazelnut here along with a little green plum skin, lime, an... Read More
