Founded in 1983 by Oregon native, Jim Bernau, with the dream of creating world-class Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley Vineyards has grown from a bold idea into one of the region’s leading wineries, earning the title “One of America’s Great Pinot Noir Producers,” from Wine Enthusiast Magazine. Willamette Valley Vineyards approach is to grow, by hand, the highest quality fruit to produce wines of distinction, that are truly expressive of the varietal and the place where they are grown. All the vineyards, the Estate Vineyard, Tualatin Estate, and Elton vineyard, have been certified sustainable through LIVE (Low Input Viticulture and Enology) and Salmon Safe programs since 1997. In 2007, Willamette Valley Vineyards became the first winery in the world to use sustainable cork stoppers certified by the Rainforest Alliance and Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) standards. In 2010, Willamette Valley Vineyards released their first Oregon Certified Sustainable Wine (OCSW). Willamette Valley Vineyards commitment Read more »

Willamette Valley Vineyards on Snooth

  • Willamette Valley Vineyards Pinot Gris 2014

    Snoothrank:

Fresh lemon with bright honeydew melon notes on the nose with a touch of citrus peel. Bright green fruits wash over the palate with a lime twist. All this buttressed by exceptional acidity. Steely and clean on the finish. 90 pts. Read More

  • Willamette Valley Vineyards Pinot Noir Bernau Block 2012

    Snoothrank:

Intriguing, pleasantly herbal on the nose with notes of tomato leaf and oregano in front of black cherry and black pepper. Cheerful and elegant in the mouth, showcasing tart cherry and licorice notes with floral notes of violet and a zesty finish that comes with a touch of cola and excellent structure. Read More

  • Willamette Valley Vineyards Pinot Noir Estate 2013

    Snoothrank:

Dusty and austere, this opens beautifully with loamy earth, dark ripe cherries and plum with some mushroom notes and violets. Big bright and bold on entry, and flush with life, this shows plenty of juicy cherry notes in the mouth, with nicely toasted edges and a hint of medicine, finishing just a touch tart and creamy. This is wonderfully restra... Read More

  • Unless you bought them with aging potential in mind, a fair few of your 2013 pink and white wines won’t be drinkable by next spring. Guzzle down the last of those quick-to-turn bottles, cellar a few others, and ready yourself for the onset of fall wines. Even if you do not live in a starkly transitional climate, this a great time to think about ... Read More
