Wild Horse Winery was founded in 1983 by Ken Volk, and named for the wild mustangs that roamed the hills east of the vineyard estate. The mustangs represent the ideal symbol for the Wild Horse Winery's commitment to spirited winemaking. We create compelling wines from 16 diverse appellations and more than 40 vineyards from throughout the Central Coast region. The free-spirited attitude and sustainable-focused vineyard and winery practices are what makes our winery so unique. "Live Naturally, Enjoy Wildly" reflects the attitude and personalities found in all Wild Horse employees, from the vineyards to the tasting room who have been creating these wines for over 25 years.

  • There's an argument to be made for Riesling, and it's made on a regular basis. It goes something like this: Riesling is great, it's flexible and it's food friendly, with wines ranging from dry to syrupy sweet, so there's something for everyone to like. This has been the argument of the day for years now. Trouble is Riesling still finds resistanc... Read More

  • I absolutely love wine. Snooth is one of the reasons I love the mystique of wine because it  offers me a forum to discuss wine and all of it's nuances, it's history, it's wonder, it's character, it's beauty. I work very hard at my profession even though I have scaled it down to 3 days per week. After my work I love good food and love to imbibe i... Read More

  • Syrah has been a perennial dark horse in the US market for much of the last two decades. It’s a grape that always seems to be on the verge of greatness, even exploding on the scene in the late 1990s under the Shiraz moniker and with a thick Aussie accent, but as we all know, Aussie Shiraz is so very 1990, and Syrah struggles to find a following ...
