The Summerer estate vineyards encircle the town of Langenlois. Three typical grapes of the Kamp-Valley area dominate the 50 acres: the Riesling, the Zweigelt, and the Grüner Veltliner, which accounts for almost 60 percent of total wine production, ranking first in the statistics list. The simple reason is the winegrowers preference for this national Austrian grape. For Elisabeth and Rupert Summerer, not the Riesling but the Grüner Veltliner – a cosmopolitan accompaniment with various possibilities of maturation and a wide spectrum ranging from the fresh light Sommerwein to a strong, complex meditazione vino, a meditation wine, to dessert wine – yes the Grüner Veltliner, and this grape alone, should be king of grapes.
