Robert Eymael leads since 1994 the Wine Estate. Joke and humor paired with a quality-conscious individualism, describe his philosophy, which reflects itself in the inimitable style of its Riesling wines. The Mönchhof, formerly in the possession of the Cisterian abbey Himmerod, is one of the oldest Wine 'Estates at the Mosel. Pope Alexander III already confirmed the first Wine Estate possession of the abbey in the year 1177 in Uerzig. The monks of Himmerod built the wine-cellar at that time and in 1509 the estate you can admire today. In 1804, after the secularization by Napoleon, our family could acquire the Wine Estate in Paris. – Description from milana

  • Mönchhof Eymael Riesling Kabinett Ürziger Würzgarten 302713 2007

Wow! was the first thing I thought when I tasted this Riesling in 2008. It has the flavors I prefer such as peach and other fruits, slight honey but with great acid and very well balanced. This did not have the slight funky aftertaste that I have seen in other Rieslings, finishing very clean and refreshing. Read More

  • Monchhof Riesling 2008

This review applies to the QBA version of the Mosel "Estate". Tame and delicious Mosel riesling, likely to be enjoyed by those unfamiliar with wines and adverse to strong wines. 9% alcohol by volume (good for crowd control). Nose of strong ripe cheese and nectarine or crushed green foilage. In the mouth flavors of sweet apple, pear, and crisp un... Read More
