Description 1 of 1

In the Year of the Austrian revolution of 1848 the Diem family moved from Grossnonndorf to the nearby florishing town of Obermarkerdsdorf, a wine-growing area. There they began their family tradition as vintners. From generation to generation they acquired more and more land, all of which had the very best requirements for vineyards; the quality of the soil, the amount of sunshine and the micro-climate of each vineyard. This exceptionally good land, combined with traditional agricultural methods and the most modern wine cellar technique has created a wine of highest quality and excellent character. Five generations later, Gerald Diem took over the family business in the year 2000. He studied at the vintner college in Krems to become a wine manager, with great success. This was followed by six months of practical training at Chateau Haut Chatain, the land of Pomerol in Bordeaux. In Bordeaux Gerald Diem acquired knowledge about the planting and care of vineyards and polished his talents as a vintner. In 1998 he married Andrea, a native of the well known Austrian wine town Retz, who, though an ontological newcomer, has capably taken on the responsibility for the distribution and marketing of the family´s wine production. Careful decoration of the middleaged granary, together with the up to date furniture elements corresponds as well with the concept of tradtion as with the identity of modern vinary at the Diem location. The historic room has developed within a short time to a fixed point of communication for elegant winedegustations, -presentaions and other events around the never ending topic enology. – Description from Dragac
