Viña Leyda on Snooth

  • Vina Leyda Chardonnay 2014

    Snoothrank:

A touch phenolic in the nose with green apple and peach notes. Nicely spiced palate of green apple, zesty citrus and juicy pear notes. This shows well in the midpalate with a lot of bright acidity and freshness, and turns toasty on the finish with streaks of oak and burnt lemon peel. Read More

  • Leyda Pinot Noir 2013

    Snoothrank:

Smoke and char on the nose muting the cherry fruit or at least hiding it a bit. The palate is full of ripe cherry and cooked cranberry fruit, with streaks of tar and some earth as well. It's medium bodied but the finish has a little extra punch as it lingers with some tart fruit and earth, with some zestiness as well. Read More

  • Vina Leyda Sauvignon Blanc Single Vineyard Garuma 2014

    Snoothrank:

Floral honeysuckle and peach notes opening here with lemon and a bit of grassiness. Puckering lemon acidity in the mouth which is kind of single noted or at least very profoundly direct on that note, yet there is still some peach and apricot around the edges of this refreshing wine.89 pts Read More

  • Vina Ventolera Litoral Leyda Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2011

    Snoothrank:

This Leyda Valley Sauvignon Blanc was tasted a few weeks back at Marquis Wines (Vancouver BC) and seems altogether the same today - if a tad more powerful on the nose. The fruit has that slightly exaggerated aspect of the subtropical antipodes with heavy lime and musk predominating. Lime also dominates the entry with a slight bark-like finish. ... Read More

  • Vina Leyda Chardonnay 2013

    Snoothrank:

Classic Chardonnay on the nose with well judged oak adding vanilla and spice note to the core of pineapple and citrus fruits that pick up a touch of mango with air. A leading edge of creamy richness quickly gives way to tart acids that drive the green apple, pineapple, and lime flavors across the palate. This has some heft to it but the great ac... Read More

  • Vina Leyda Sauvignon Blanc Classic Reserve 2012

    Snoothrank:

Pungent and spicy on the nose with subtle layers of green chile, pineapple and tarragon aromas. Bright and direct, this turns slightly rich on the mid-palate with plenty of material and perhaps a little sugar buffering the significant acidity. The backend sees the acidity popping out to the detriment of the modest fruit which mostly washes away ... Read More

  • Vina Leyda Leyda Pinot Noir las Brisas Chile 2009

    Snoothrank:

An excellent example of Chilean Pinot Noir from Leyda Valley's pioneering winery. This single vineyard Pinot has a rich full nose of cedar and raspberry. Light in color but well balanced I found notes of red currant and red fruit on the palate. Definitely a new world wine and definitely worth a try! Read More
