Errazuriz was founded in 1870 in the Aconcagua Valley, 65 miles north of the capital, Santiago, and at the foot of Mount Aconcagua, the highest peak in the Western Hemisphere, and one of the seven summits of the world. Recognizing that this valley was ideal for growing grapes, with its hot, dry summers and cool Pacific Ocean breezes, Don Maximiano Errazuriz sent for the finest clones from France, and with tenacity and perseverance transformed this barren land into a world-class vineyard. Today, the tradition lives on with Eduardo Chadwick, the fifth generation of his family to lead this exceptional estate. Eduardo’s work has been colossal, bringing Errazuriz into a new era where it is acknowledged as a producer of world-class wines, and opened eyes around the globe as to Chile’s incredible and diverse sites. As an estate winery, Errazuriz strives to produce the finest wines through meticulous attention to every stage of viticulture and vinification, from grape growing in the Aconcagua, Casablanca and Curico valleys, to winemaking with the most natural techniques. • Errazuriz Chardonnay Wild Ferment 2011

This Casablanca Valley Chardonnay was hard to resist - being of good provenance and marketed at a good price point. The nose has a strong citrus (grapefruit) notes with a hint of quince. On entry, there is anise, more grapefruit and cake spice; finish is warm and long. Typical of the region but more interesting. 88 points. Read More

  • Errázuriz Estate Pinot Noir 2008

A very approachable wine with loads of personality. the nose greets you with cherry, raspberry jello, tiramisu and tobacco leaf. Entry evokes the tartness of homemade currant jelly or a mixed fruit pie. At just $15 a bottle, it'll make a fine companion the next time you curl up to the poetry of Roberto Bolano and nosh on a quick lunch from Chipo... Read More
