Vicomte Bernard de Romanet
Vicomte Bernard de Romanet is a United Kingdom-based supplier of select wines from around the world, established in 1967. The wines are not offered in retail or on premise establishments, but only by direct sales. Tastings are arranged in clients’ homes or in one of their 13 offices, much like Avon or Mary Kay cosmetics. The company was established to provide a then unmet service in a country with little in the way of quality wine shops with a global portfolio. Though British wine shop selections have improved since the 1960s, the company is still going strong. Their goal is to provide a “tutored guide through” to build customer appreciation and knowledge of the wines. Wines are sourced from France, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, California, Chile, Argentina, and other parts of the world. They also offer a service for customers to add a custom label to bottles, with a two-case minimum.– Description from Amanda Schuster
