Veritas Vineyard & Winery

"Veritas Winery, a family business owned by Andrew and Patricia Hodson, opened for business in June 2002; with the help of their daughter Emily, they have succeeded in consistently producing a range of complex and elegant wines. The idyllic setting is easy to find but hard to leave, located just off I-64 at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The unique wines of Veritas are all of high quality, derived from vitis vinifera with the exception of one French hybrid. Our philosophy is to make wine with the classic, old-style principles of Viticulture and Vinification, at the same time using state of the art technology to capture varietal and regional character." – Description from george2

  • Veritas Vineyard & Winery Sauvignon Blanc 2013

    Snoothrank:

Very aromatic with tons of grass and citrus and a hint of cat piss. STRONG varietal character! Tingling, zesty acidity with terrifically layered notes of lemon and herbs. Read More

  • Veritas Vineyard & Winery Viognier 2010

    Snoothrank:

2012 Thanksgiving. I was SO excited to see a Viognier among the wines brought by guests. Virginia Viognier has become a great love of mine. I am partial to one in particular though. I saw the Horton label and felt a bit deflated. With one sip of the Horton, there I was, in quiet fine dining with the uber-sophisticated market analyst when I th... Read More

  • Veritas Rose

    Snoothrank:

While the label boasts half-sweet for the optimists and half-dry for the pessimists, I found this wine barely sweet. Of course, that suits me perfectly. Opened with very fruity aromas, but wasn't overpowered by a fruit-filled taste. Balanced acidity provides a slightly tangy mouthfeel. This wine was right up my alley and I'm proud to have Verita... • My wife and I love going to Veritas! They have great wine, but the service is 2nd to none. Everyone there is so helpful and nice. They have just started offering VALET PARKING! When we first saw that we were blown away. Great wine, great people and great class with the valet parking. We love the door side service.

  •  Since my queries of this nature are usually tagged to the end of other threads of (somehwat) related nature, I figured I'd start one of dedicated nature. Hopefully this'll be easier to search for and come back to in the future. Here's an offer from HDH in Chicago. Anything of particular interest, or of relatively good pricing? This offer seems a... • I went on a tour of Sokol Blosser which was given complimentary and by a tour guide who was so amazing and inspirational.  I saw a couple of lady bugs on the vine and by some cursed desire, I unfortunately googled lady bug + vineyards to see if they eat predator bugs.  I found numerous articles on lady bugs getting crushed into wine and tainting...
