Unti Vineyards is a small, family-owned and operated winery specializing in red varietal wines with vineyard personality. George and his son Mick believe Dry Creek Valley’s climate is ideal for making full-bodied, fruity reds from Zinfandel, Rhone and Italian varietals. The winery, established in 1997, produces small lots of estate grown Zinfandel, Syrah, Grenache, Barbera, Sangiovese, Petite Sirah and a Dry Rose. The winemaking includes artisan methods which enhance and support an ability to make wines with a sense of place. Almost all of the wines, and opinions, are unfiltered. – Description from Kursulla

  • We're doing a long weekend in Russian River and Napa this weekend. Flew into San Francisco yesterday with no problems. Friend picked us up at the airport, definitely beats the heck out of fighting the huge crowd at the rental car counters. Why don't they have a contiguous highway from the airport to hwy 101.So what's the first thing to do in win... Read More

  • California, the land of sunshine, free spirits, and big wines. Right? Yes, of course, all that is true but today we are seeing that free spirited attitude change the paradigm for wine production. Some might say that we are witnessing a return to a different style of wine. Fresher, lower in alcohol and having more in common with wines produced se... Read More

  • Renard Primitivo Unti Vineyards Dry Creek Valley 2009

More red than purple in the glass. Fairly volatile nose with hints of spice. Quite fruity on initial taste--raspberry, maybe some peach, maybe some prune. There is detectable sweetness although it is just a hint. A fairly easy to drink wine. I think though that it would accompany fruit (e.g., apple) and cheese more than a traditional entree... • Unti Vineyards Syrah Dry Creek Valley Benchland 2010

Big fruit greets the nose, a little jammy and black and framed with notes of cracked pepper and spicy, toasty oak spice. Broad and a bit flat in the mouth though this has plenty of acidity, its just dense and compact . The fruit feels a bit compressed and chunky with sweeter, softer edges that the Syrah normale. It seems more Californian, smoky... Read More

Nice blue fruit with subtle herbal accents greets the nose. Theres a brushy here, a bit of eucalyptus spice. 70% Sangiovese, 30% Montepulciano Earthy on the nose showing quite stemmy qualities along with fine asphalty Montepulciano driven aromas that are a bit white peppery and a little savory and meat juicy. • Unti Vineyards Barbera 2012

Tight, earthy and a little yeasty on the nose. Packed with bright acids, black fruit and bright floral aromas this coats the palate with gorgeous black raspberry fruit.Rich but clear, long and zesty, with fine grained soft tannins this has such nice cut to the fruit with a mineral spect on the long, palate staining finish. Very perfumed in th... Read More

  • Unti Vineyards Barbera Dry Creek Valley 2011

This is very perfumed in a savory way, rich with inky, black fruits with green ivy, african violet accents. Bright, broad, and full or transparent black raspberry fruit on the palate. Theres a lovely bit of black cherry skin here, showing off attractive fruit tannins that add a bit of texture in the mouth, making this just a little chewy. Lovel... Read More
