  • Château Troplong Mondot 2012

Oaky on the nose and while there is some nice fruit here but this is frankly oaky. Chunky, raw, and with no nuance on the palate, this does reveal plenty of inky power and light black currant fruits but this is all about power and shows no nuance nor elegance. 83pts Read More

  • A couple of news items I was pondering today.First, Robert Parker came out with his ratings for the 2009 Bordeaux vintage. Ever the masochist, I decided to go look at some prices in the marketplace after the ratings were released. • The couple we went to Paso with have decided to make a stop in Bordeaux during their winter getaway in Europe. • Just thought I would share three videos on Bordeaux 2010, from en primeur week. I like how Bill Blatch for example lends a certain realism to the tasting experience, although I did not find the wines THAT difficult to taste. Certainly 2009 was easier to taste en primeur, it was a more immediately flattering tasting experience on the whole. As wa... Read More

  • Upon tasting the 2008 Troplong Mondot at the UGC in Los Angeles, and then reading about its history and terroir, I must say i'm a big fan of this winery and of St. Emilion in general. Very good quality and dependable right banker indeed.
