Welcome to Tower Rock Vineyard & Winery, known for its award-winning wines, attractive vistas and happy and relaxed atmosphere. Owned and operated by Nancy Hadler and her son Ben, Tower Rock is in its second decade of operation. Cultivated on the three-acre vineyard is the red wine grape Cynthiana, which is the official grape of the State of Missouri. Our white wine grapes are Seyval, Traminette, Vidal and Vignoles. In addition, the winery sources from neighboring vineyards choice grape varieties, and from time to time offers special fruit-based varieties – peach, apple, plum, etc. – Description from Kursulla

  • So basically LP didn't like that wine.  "Muddy meh flavors" is a subjective assessment and doesn't do much for me.  Now for another treat, here is the allocation we picked up today at Stone Tower Winery.  We were just there last weekend for the estate tasting and estate allocation.  Oh, we did their 'yoga at the winery' this morning too, right a... • We did enjoy a nice 'Estate wine tasting' at Stone Tower Winery yesterday afternoon.  We sampled the 2013, 2014 and 2015 vintages of two estate wines, Wind Swept Hills and Hogback Mountain.  It was a tie between the 2013 and 2015 vintages of both, but I suppose the 2013 Hogback Mountain was my favorite if I had to choose just one bottle. As membe... • I'll start this one off with a comparison of two Cabernet Franc wines, both from Virginia USA.  The year is 2015, and the wineries are in Southern Virginia and Northern Virginia.  The Keswick Vineyards 2015 Cabernet Franc was a bit tart and tannic.  Not my favorite by any means.  We bought it because we did a tasting there last year and you need... • Time for some horizontal tasting.  This topic is specifically to address commonalities and differences between the same grape varietal (or blend) and same year of bottling, but at different wineries or different vineyards of the same winery.  Take a picture of your two or more bottle comparisons and tell us which is better.  If you can, provide ... • We enjoyed Friday, finally taking a break from cleaning up after our 2-week trip to Douglas, Wyoming for that solar eclipse on 21 August.  Pictures for that adventure will be placed in a web page soon.  Meanwhile, after a nice massage for me, we had a late lunch at Seasons 52 and then headed over to one of our wineries (Stone Tower Winery) for a... • Had a great first full day here in south central California. Started off with a very good breakfast at the ForFriends B&B in Santa Ynez. Too early for any of the tasting rooms to be open so we headed down to Jalama beach for some salt air and scenery. Beautiful beach with some interesting campsites and about a half dozen surfers enjoying some mo... Read More

  • Sorry to be morbid, but what’s your ‘death bed’ wine; the last glass you’ll taste in this life? Mine’s Puligny-Montrachet, the famous but expensive white Burgundian. The big price tag is no hassle if it’s your final pleasure but on a Wednesday evening? Yep, that may be a problem! “But is it possible to buy good value White Burgundy?”, a friend a... Read More

  • Wine has the unique ability to, at the same time, stand inside and outside of history. This past week Villa Torlonia, a museum and estate near Rome, opened to visitors the doors of its World War II-era bomb shelter. Before the underground hideout served as a refuge from possible air attacks, it served as a wine cellar for infamous dictator Benit... Read More
