Torres is one of the world’s most recognizable brands of Spanish wine and is 100% family owned. The company was founded by Jaime and Miguel Torres in 1870, and is now overseen by 4th generation wine producer Miguel Angel Torres. The headquarters of the winery is in Vilafranca del Penèdes in Catalonia, although the family controls several wineries throughout Spain as well as Chile and California. The wines range from entry level premiums, such as Sangre de Toro (the one with the little bull charm on its neck), to quality-driven mid and higher priced ranges, as well as dessert wines and brandies.

A large percentage of the Torres vineyards are organic and sustainable, with efforts to increase those numbers. They also contribute to wildlife conservation efforts with a fund to protect the Bonelli's Eagle in Catalonia and the Condor in Chile.

  • Torres Verdeo Verdejo 2013

    Snoothrank:

A light straw color with small defined separation ring. Rich in floral aromas with peach, apple and citrus shinning through.Notable grassy accents accompany the previous. • Torres Pazo Das Bruxas Albarino 2013

    Snoothrank:

Quite lovely. Golden in the Glass. Loads of Herbs, Minerals, and Stone Fruit. High level of Acidity, but with a surprising roundness, even oilyness, in the mouth. There seems to be a bit of oak which provides a long, smooth finish. Bits of Orange Rind as it opens up.One of the better Albarinos I have had. Read More

  • Z - not tangential to wine!  Torres in Spain is buying land high up in the mountains in the expectation that in the future that will be warm vineyard land. Every wine maker I've ever talked to can see the changes in average ripening dates, etc.And our politicians are very willing to deny it and to claim that the "science" isn't proven.Unless it ... Snoothrank:
