The Ojai Vineyard on SnoothMay 2013
Iota like just a little bit, the Greek letter. This damn Snooth typeface. Yep, I just bought my second bottle of the P-S SVD. Like I said, tasty stuff. Somewhere between earthy Carneros and ethereal Sonoma Coast. At $35 plus, I have to really like things to keep buying them. White Hawk is a well-known vineyard. Ojai, Holus Bolus, Nola, and... http://www.bigtablefarm.com/A new find for me today, and one that seems to warrant sharing. They produce a Rose, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Syrah from 70 Acres. On current release I'm counting a little over 1,000 cases in production. Not bad for a husband (winemaker, Brian Marcy) and wife (Artist, Vineyard Mgr) team.Just from doing some brief o... Read More

Hint of lemon on the nose, maybe a bit of caramel. No lemon on the palate, more peachy or melon but with no sweetness. Very dry and refreshing. Nice acid balance. Good food wine. Happily, much closer to Burgundian style than California style. US$23.00 from Winery Club. Read More

Very pretty red in the glass. Slight earthy, mushroomy nose. Good news--initial palate does not overwhelm me with cherries like most Pinots do. Slight bitterness on the edges of the tongue. Some astrigency on the finish. Right now I'm thinking this is a darned good Pinot Noir and I am not a Pinot Noir fan. US$40.00 at the winery in Ojai. Read More

On Saturday morning, while I was having my coffee and bagel, it occurred to me that it would be fun to drive up to the Central Coast and visit some wineries. It took about 20 milliseconds to convince Peggy that this was a good idea. I did have to take care of one issue at the bank. (In fact, the bank visit was totally unsuccessful and that is... Read More

Here I am trying to think of my "Wine of The Year" as well as the runner ups. I see a lot of forums do this, but it's usually a bunch of impossible to obtain bottles or vintage wines that cost too much for the average person to afford. I find these lists pretty useless, since the best use that anyone could get from a topic like this, is to find... Read More
