A special place where early European settlers first crossed the fast flowing waters of the Awatere River in Marlborough, New Zealand. The Crossings was founded by a group of wine lovers who dreamed of crafting outstanding wines from grapes grown in the picturesque Awatere Valley in the Marlborough region at the north eastern tip of the South Island of New Zealand. Their dream was realised in 2001 with the first vintage of The Crossings. Today, with three superb vineyards producing Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and a state-of-the-art winery, The Crossings wines have an enviable reputation for quality in several of the world's most discerning markets. The 143 hectare (353 acres) estate is planted on three distinctive vineyards, each on alluvial river terraces, on the northern bank of the Awatere River. – Description from Alejandro

  • Actually, I think I have reviewed a few VI wines over the last five years, but I have never discussed them in a forum posting.  Unsworth makes an excellent Pinot Gris, Petit Milo and of course, the bubbly is very good as well.  The Petit Milo is worth trying... exotic and actually a 3.5 star wine by the reckoning of the measuring rod of this sit... • That Summerhill is an excellent example of Ehrenfelser - if memory serves, it is just a touch off-dry... like most from that grape-crossing. During the 1980's and early 1990's there was not that much good Riesling around in BC (Gehringer Bros. being a somewhat rare exception at the time), but there was Ehrenfelser - a  left-over from an assessme... • Lately I've been interested in learning more about CA regions other than Napa. So I've been tasting quite a bit from producers that don't find their way out east, where it's often easier to get wine from Europe than from the US, at least in NYC.First, I have to give a huge shout out to Bryan Harrington. He's gone around the state and found reall... Read More

  • Benjamin Bridge Tidal Bay 2015

This wine, made from some lesser known crossings known mainly to Eastern Canadians, is constructed on such grapes as L'Acadie Blanc and Geisenheim-318-57. These varieties, however, evoke a rich perfume - almost like a bowl of freshly picked Himalayan Blackberries. The entry is very tart - perfect for seafood or barbequed chicken. Finish is me...
