  • Epicuro Salice Salentino Riserva 2009

    Snoothrank:

A joy for the money. Two obscure grapes from the boot. Give demeaning comments the boot. This unpretentious quaffer offers balance, acid and adequate heft. We are glugging it by the case. Read More

  • Epicuro Salice Salentino 2009

    Snoothrank:

Extremely red fruit forward, an explosion in your mouth. Oak on the finish which felt fake and not in concert with the fruit. As it remained opened (or as we drank more), it blended better. I want to try this again to get another perspective, but will give it the benefit of the doubt. Read More

  • Epicuro Aglianico Beneventano 2010

    Snoothrank:

I've had far better aglianico in my lifetime. Granted, we're talking about a $6 Trader Joe's bottle of wine here. I think Aglianico is one of those varietals that doesn't express itself well in the lower price range. Not much of a nose. • Epicuro Salice Salentino Riserva 2009

    Snoothrank:

Lovely, dark red plum color. Very noticeably oak on the nose. Lots of flavors all over the place--blackbery, cinnamon, some earthy, mineral thing. A little pckery on the tip of the tongue, but not tannic at all. Nice acid. Should be a good food wine. Pizza tonight. US$4.99 at Trader Joe's. Read More

  • Epicuro Aglianico Beneventano 2009

    Snoothrank:

Out of the Epicuro wines, this seems to be the most acidic, tasting slightly off. The first nose is cherry, and it has a nice peppery finish to it. Still a decent enough wine which offers enough value for its price. Read More
