TerraVin

Mike and Jo Eaton established TerraVin in the Marlborough region of New Zealand in 1999. The focus is on producing wines that reflect the 30 years Mike has spent in the vineyards locally and his time spent in France. The wines are made from fruit grown on organically managed Estate or leased vineyards, where they retain complete control of all aspects of vineyard management.

Varieties: Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay

All Pinot Noir is grown on hillside plantings where crops are carefully managed and winemaking is a hands on affair. There are 3 tiers of wines in the Terravin range.

Estate- a more fruit focused range tha accentuates the natural fruit that marlborough is famous for.

Hillside Reserve - A selection of barrels that are blended from the best aspects of the hillside blocks of bth Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

Single Vineyard - Selected from the finest Pinot Noir sites and the finest barrels that typify that particular vineyard. A true expression of place - terroir.

  • So, I'm back.I've been , shall we say, indisposed of late. Here I am back and fresh as ever, with a surprising recommendation. Go out and try the $12 Cavit Collection Alta Luna Pinot Noir. Seriously, it's a very pretty little wine, simple but with classic European table wine weight and balance. I could drink it all day, and recently would have if... Read More

  • Terravin Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough Te Ahu 2010

    Snoothrank:

the texture and richness from the low yields and wild ferment is really evident on both aromatics and palate. Bouquet - Citrus, honey, floral and cafa lime with a savoury spice and brioche background.Palate- rich and textural but still with a freshness that is really pleasing. Quite unlike most other Sauvignon Blanc from this area. Read More

  • Terravin Pinot Noir Omaka Valley Hillside Selection 2006

    Snoothrank:

It is indeed 50/50 Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc and at 5 years old now it is just starting to unfold. Very tight still and showing citrus and wild honey characters that are overlaid with complexity showing now from the wild ferment and barrel aging. It still is very youthful and needs time yet. It defininitely benefits from a larger glass and mo... Read More

  • Last night I hosted a tasting party at my tiny pad in Manhattan for Pinot Noirs from around the world. Doing the research I found that Pinot Noirs are grown in at least 17 different countries, from well known regions such as those found in France and the United States to lesser known like Macedonia and South Africa. For this tasting party I na... Read More
