Terra Valentine on Snooth

  • I love the Ridge labels.  They are the most informative labels ... Pride, ... Pride, Smith-Madrone, and Terra Valentine--have ranged from good to outstanding.  I even like Spring Mountain Merlots.  Red wines from Spring Mountain are very age-worthy and they are very tannic.  If tannin puts you off, then you might be discouraged.  They are not ... • Here are a couple of ideas.  Terra Valentine winery in Napa makes a very nice red blend called "Amore."  Not surprisingly, they use "Italian" grapes for this.  They have another blend of red grapes called "Marriage."  Both of these are very good wines.  However, what I would suggest is that you tell them to enjoy it on their first anniversary (b... • Hi there!I will begin by saying I know absolutely nothing about wine! Which is why I am on this site begging for help!! Lol. I would really like to get my sister and her fiancé a bottle of wine that can age for 25 years. So my questions are: What kind of wine (I don't even have a preference) and what is the most reasonable price range? I figure ... Read More

  • AZ Snoother, We don't hate, at least I don't!  When it comes to ... ... Smith Madrone is old and Terra Valentine is younger, at least some of the TV vineyards are older than Smith Madrone's, since S-M was founded in 1971 and TV is producing wine from the old Yverdon vineyard, which produced wine as early as 1971. However, I noticed a few month... Read More

  • Fox, Terra Valentine is a neighbor of Smith-Madrone on Spring Mountain, and I tasted a very good dry Riesling when I visited there almost exactly one year ago.  (Later that evening Mrs. EMark and I had a terrific dinner in Glen Ellen with a couple of really great Snooth guys.)  It was good enough to convince me to buy a couple bottles They might... I'm really only broadly planning which areas to go to now, and I really want to nail down some plans so I can have some idea of what we're doing! I know that there is some wine tourism in Arizona. Do you guys know anything about the wines or wineri... Read More

  • When in doubt, bring the "Whatcha Dinking Tonight" thread back to lifeWe visited Terra Valentine last May and this is one we brought back with us. I'm guessing that I liked this one better at the winery than I'm enjoying now at the old adobe.  Not as full-bodied as I normally like.  Fairly tart.  Not a lot of character.  Now, in spite of all tha... • Terra Valentine Syrah Napa Valley Spring Mountain District 2009

Dark in the glass. Intriguing nose--berries, mint, pepper. Somewhat tart on the tip of the tongue. Not a lot of fruit flavor at all. Medium bodied. Unfortunate bitterness on the the back of the palate. Once again, this is an easy-to-drink wine. Apparently, though it's not as great as I thought when I bought it at the winery last May. $45...
