Viñedos Terrenoble was founded in 1993 by Jorge Elgueta in Valle de Maule, Chile. The wines steadily gained recognition through the years since then. In 2006, Wolf von Appen and Patricio de Solminhiac joined the Elgueta family to expand winery operations throughout Chile, exploring new vineyard locations. Terrenoble is dedicated to producing wines from grapes best suited to their individual terroir and climate (as opposed to planting popular varietals anywhere and hoping for the best). Their philosophy is to, “produce modern, high quality, elegant and pleasant to drink wines, with presence of aromatic and fruit flavors extracting, maintaining and highlighting features of each variety.”

  • Terra Noble Carmenère Gran Reserva 2009

Shows a nose of dark berries, mineral earthiness, pepper and spices with some notes of coffee as it breathes. The palate shows big dark berries, with some dusty sweet spices and pepper with a finish of cherries mixed with some spices, coffee bean and menthol. Read More

  • Terra Noble Carmenère Gran Reserva 2009

Deeply opaque with a finely woven texture brushed with a swash of reddish purple hues, on the nose this Carmenere shows beautifully out of the glass, in fact I put it down for a minute to write some notes and could still smell the extremely rich aromatics. There is some oak with vanilla, and mocha/coffee accompanied by a palate if intense blue f... Read More

  • Terra Noble Carmenère Gran Reserva 2009

There's noticeable oak on the nose, giving it a nice, noble quality. Toasty richness. Some cinnamon and spice box. Slight hints of tobacco leaf. Downplayed fruit. On the palate it has rich texture. Great structure and balance. Rich red berry fruit. Some white pepper and spice. The oak element adds a nice layer. It's a sexy wine with al... Read More

  • Terra Noble Carmenère Gran Reserva 2009

That earthy, dirty, nose/taste with barnyard and tobacco essence, is something I like in many wines. This may not be for everyone... however the fruit is lusher, fruitier than I normally prefer, but the earthiness and toasted vanilla seem to balance it out. BTW, I agree with the snooth pairing recommendation of arugula, steak, and pear pizza.... Read More
