controlled the two banks of the river belbo. between the langhe and the plains of Alessandria, read more...in the long line of the incisa della rocchetta family there stands out first of all Leopold, cameral magistrate to the 'Imperial Royal government of lombardy and veneto' up to 1840. when he left public office to ret irk to the ancestral home in rocchetta tanaro. here. in the family business. he would cultivate his passion for viticulture. leopold would publish two catalogues of the precious italian and foreign vines collected by him. books which are still today considered to be a bibliographical rarity. rich in observations and intuition that are still valid. Almost a century later his great-grandson mario incisa della rocchetta would draw inspiration from these catalogues for his grafts of bordeaux vine cuttings. first on the family lands at the occhetta and. with the success that is known worldwide. on the land of bolgheri. which became part of the family possessions in 1930 on h is marriage to h is beloved Clarice della Gherardesca. From its first commercialization 40 years ago. at the wish of mario incisa della rocchetta. on the sassicaia label there appeared a family seal dating back to Medieval times representing the ideal testimony of the continuous love of the incisas for their
