Tensley Wines is a family owned and operated winery focusing on vineyard designated Syrah within Santa Barbara County. Established in 1998, the first release of Tensley totaled just 100 cases. In 2006, our production reached 3,300 cases and included seven single-vineyard Syrahs, the most in Santa Barbara County. Though we've grown in size, our philosophy has never changed - source the best fruit possible and let the vineyard speak for itself. For tasting and wine purchases, please call, order online, or stop by our tasting room. The Tensley Tasting Room is located in the scenic town of Los Olivos in the heart of Santa Barbara County wine country. In the same tasting room is Carina Cellars Wines, these Rhone style wines are also produced by Joey with the same degree of quality he gives to his own label. – Description from dvoristanac

Tensley on Snooth

  • NG stole my reco for Lafond.  I've mentioned elsewhere that I like ... overblown fruit and VA like Tensley (one of my worst purchases), and not so forward as Stolpman.  Can't say anything about the PN there or the Chardonnay, but it's very convenient and you'll probably like the wine.I have a friend who loves Jaffurs Syrah and PS, but it's onl... Fantastic wine and very different varietal combination. Spice and white Pepper mingled with dark black berry fruit. This is a real treat and very different. A great inspired Rhone wine! Cheers! Read More

  • There's also Covenant and a bunch of others.  Many of them are, more ... I've bought Stolpman and Tensley and it wasn't much better, RP's points be damned, but I also paid $20 for those, in spite of their alleged higher retail. &nbs Read More

  • Made a trip to Pahrump Nevada today to play a round of golf with my friends at Mountain Falls GC. Amazing course! Rated #1 in Nevada and the #7 public course in America. Who would have thought a course that nice could be located smack dab in the middle of basically no-mans land.Because the trip is 45 minutes from Vegas, I decided to visit the wi... Read More

  • I just checked my inventory--updating after purchasing some Myriad Syrah (thanks, OT!) and putting in the Jemrose Syrahs I bought a month ago (thanks again, OT!) and it is now official:  I have more Syrah than Cab on hand and quite a bit pending delivery.  (Um, thanks OT? Love the wines but the space is getting a little tight...)So it seemed lik... Read More

  • Tensley Syrah Santa Barbary County 2010

Not very expressive on the nose. Flavors of roasted meats, lavender, cassis, blackberry and charcoal with hints of ink. Ripe and full bodied. Chalky texture. Hot, big acid and alcohol feel. That detracts me from this wine. It's more like a liquer. Too heavy handed.83 pts.12/15/12 Read More

  • Well most everyone has received their wines and have had them resting for a while. Unfortunately, we had a few shipping issues along the way, but all in all I think we did pretty good. Foxall is the only one not to have received anything yet, while Shi's SS wasn't heard from, but luckily an elf stepped in and sent her some wine. Finally, it look... Read More
