Tensley Wines is a family owned and operated winery focusing on vineyard designated Syrah within Santa Barbara County. Established in 1998, the first release of Tensley totaled just 100 cases. In 2006, our production reached 3,300 cases and included seven single-vineyard Syrahs, the most in Santa Barbara County. Though we've grown in size, our philosophy has never changed - source the best fruit possible and let the vineyard speak for itself. For tasting and wine purchases, please call, order online, or stop by our tasting room. The Tensley Tasting Room is located in the scenic town of Los Olivos in the heart of Santa Barbara County wine country. In the same tasting room is Carina Cellars Wines, these Rhone style wines are also produced by Joey with the same degree of quality he gives to his own label. Truly a family owned and operated winery, you will likely find either Joey or Jennifer Tensley working behind the tasting bar on any given weekend. We look forward to seeing you soon.

  • I just checked my inventory--updating after purchasing some Myriad Syrah (thanks, OT!) and putting in the Jemrose Syrahs I bought a month ago (thanks again, OT!) and it is now official:  I have more Syrah than Cab on hand and quite a bit pending delivery.  (Um, thanks OT? Love the wines but the space is getting a little tight...)So it seemed lik... Read More

  • Well most everyone has received their wines and have had them resting for a while. Unfortunately, we had a few shipping issues along the way, but all in all I think we did pretty good. Foxall is the only one not to have received anything yet, while Shi's SS wasn't heard from, but luckily an elf stepped in and sent her some wine. Finally, it look... Read More

  • Tensley Tierra Alta Syrah 2010

    Snoothrank:

Juicy with raspberry notes. Sweeter and less spicier than other Syrahs of the same vintage from Colson or Santa Barbara. Has a savory note that is very enjoyable Read More

  • We just joined their wine club and got their anniversary 'noir' syrah which has very good reviews for past vintage. They have wonderful syrahs that are well balanced and very enjoyable. They have the OGT syrah and BMT syrah/grenache blends in magnums for their wine club so I cannot wait to open one for a syrah party!

  • I asked in another thread about recommendation for the Okanagan Valley area of British Columbia, but now I'm asking for up-to-date stories about an area closer to (my) home. I have a family gathering in The Ojai/Santa Barbara area next month, and was wondering who has recommendations about particularly good wines and winery visits in that area t... Read More

  • I'm vaugely thinking about a visit to the USA and Canada maybe early next year. I should note that it's still very, very much a vague plan, and nothing is set in stone -- but I do have to decide what I'd like to do first so I can see whether it's all actually workable. Naturally visiting a couple of wine regions in both countries will be part of... Read More

  • I have been drinking wines from Santa Ynez, Central coast area for a long time and the Syrah offerings keep getting better. The most consistent Syrah, with several accolades and high scores is Tensley Syrah. As I describe it, "a party in your mouth" wine. Try some, stock up a lot Read More
