The Taplin family reflects the history of American westward migration and the development of the Napa Valley. Vermont dairyman John Orange Taplin served milk to San Francisco during the Gold Rush and then fled the crowded city for Napa Valley in 1871. His grandson married into the Lewelling Family, who grew fruit south of St Helena starting in 1864. Their descendants, Melinda, Stephen, and Bill Taplin, farm their vineyards on that land and founded Taplin Cellars to produce premium cabernet and promote those remarkable moments where good food, good wine and good company intersect in great conversation.– Description from staplin
