Great wines are made in the vineyard and it is the exceptional fruit grown at the Kayena Vineyard that forms the cornerstone of the Tamar Ridge and Devil’s Corner range of wines. Located on the western banks of the Tamar River, 40 kilometres north of Launceston, the Kayena Vineyard is planted to a range of cool climate varieties including Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. – Description from milana

  • Tamar Ridge Pinot Noir 2008

Nose: cherry, spice. Some candied cherry notes. Some grassiness emerging with air? Palate: cherry, spice. Ripe, rich fruit. Firm, dry tannins. Good fresh acidity, quite lively. A little short on the palate, and a bit one-dimensional - good but not great. Read More

  • Tamar Ridge Pinot Noir 2008

Went down to meet some friends for a "couple" after work in Canary Wharf last night to find a bottle of this on the table. Having had previous experience of my colleagues' taste in plonk I was, frankly, terrified. What a pleasant surprise when I had when I poured myself a glass. It was a lovely bright red, with aromas of red berries, cherry and l... Read More

  • Tamar Ridge Riesling Tamar Valley Botrytis Kayena Vineyard 2006

Classic botrytis riesling: perfect balance of acid and sweetness tempered with lime and kerosene notes. High hopes engendered by a Decanter World Wine Award were utterly exceeded, this is outstanding. Read More

  • Tamar Ridge Pinot Noir Kayena Vineyard 2005

Strawberry colour, lovely initial fruits lighten. Redcurrant and strawberry on the nose; soft wood on the palette. The chemical scent detected by other drinkers is actually charcoal - brash to begin with, but softens with air. Read More

  • Tamar Ridge Pinot Noir 2005

It began with a bit of a barnyard smell, not so much manure but more of wet hay that has been trampled by the horses a bit, plus a bit of a cherry smell towards the end. Very complex smell, too bad it didnt follow through with the taste. It was very flat and had just the cherry flavor and a bit of over powered by the alcohol. Read More

  • Tamar Ridge Pinot Noir 2005

My bottle might have suffered a bit from the heat, but still liked the wine. Mine was a bit astringent (probably heat damage). The flavors were great though, good pinot grape without too much fruit or alcohol. Read More
