Since 1982, Stuhlmuller Vineyards has built a reputation as growers of world-class grapes, selling their coveted fruit to a number of top area wineries. By the mid-‘90s, Fritz Stuhlmuller was so inspired by the complex wines being made from his family’s vineyard that he established a small, artisan winery bearing the Stuhlmuller name. The vineyard’s unique terroir creates Chardonnay fruit with classic Alexander Valley tropical characteristics, food-friendly citrus acidity and a distinctive mineral touch. The Cabernet Sauvignon offers enticing hints of sage and bay leaf coupled with the region's signature flavors of rich cherry, black fruit and cocoa. In 2000 Stuhlmuller Vineyards built a new winery on the property, sized precisely to handle the small amounts of world-class, estate fruit the Stuhlmullers select to create their wines. Guided by gifted winemaker Leo Hansen (and consulting winemaker Kerry Damskey), Stuhlmuller Vineyards handcrafts, small-lot wines that embody a rich Read more »

  • Not only is Cabernet Sauvignon the most popular red wine, it’s also one that is best suited to gift giving. It’s a wine that everyone knows and understands. Big, rich and bold, it’s the archetype of red wines that is perfect for the cooler months that lie ahead. While Cabernet does get a bit of a bad rap as being ubiquitous, that doesn’t mean th... • Stuhlmuller Vineyards Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

    Snoothrank:

This opens with a nose of used wood, wild herbs, red cherry fruit and nuanced mineral and leather notes. It opens slowly with air but shows a very attractive bouquet already. Velvety on entry with a modest and attractive richness that is supported by fine grained fruit tannins. This has lovely grip in the mouth with soft, polished red currant an... Read More

  • Zinfandel, it’s no secret that I’ve carried on a long and intimate relationship with you. There is so much you have to offer. Sometimes you're a bit rough and tumble, edgy, even dangerous, while other times you’re coy or playful. But you’re always there for me, with joyous fruit, classic bramble notes and structure, allowing for early consumptio... Read More

  • Stuhlmuller Vineyards Zinfandel Alexander Valley Estate Bottled 2010

    Snoothrank:

Blackberry cobbler on the nose is framed with a bit of leather and folds in subtle oak, spice and bramble notes. This enters the mouth with power and volume, then turns snappy, treading a fine line between full-on ripe fruit and classic structure. Theres lots of blueberry and wild blackberry fruit, nicely measured oak adding some base notes, and... Read More

  • Stuhlmuller Vineyards Chardonnay Alexander Valley Estate Bottled 2005

    Snoothrank:

Oaky on the nose. Aromas of apple pie crust. The front palate however isn't as oaky as you'd expect. It has good, crisp acidity with apple and pear tones. The oak builds in presence and finishes bigger, with good toast. Ends up a bit heavy handed on the finish though, with the wood notes. 1/21/12 Read More

  • Great Chardonay! So rich and buttery and the tasting room and location is amazing. Very enjoyable place that is not part of the "tourist" path. Make sure you ask to barrel taste in the back.. What an experience. We visited many places this weekend but Stuhlmuller was by far the most accomodating, generous, and great wine. The Cabernet was also d...
