We are very proud of the continued success of the Ascot Reserve wines. It is now more than 15 years since the planting of our first chardonnay vines. We continue a tradition of producing distinctively styled wine of uncompromising quality. Distribution now extends across the country and is concentrated on fine restaurants. We are now pleased add Rao's wines to our online offerings. We have been producing chardonnay, merlot and cabernet sauvignon for the famed Rao's restaurant in East Harlem, NY for several years. Please see our ordering page for information on how you can get these beautiful wines delivered directly to your home. – Description from Dragac

Strawberry Ridge Vineyard on Snooth

  • With the summer's heat on full blast you might be asking why I’m reviewing red wines instead of something cool, crisp and refreshing, and Cabernets to boot! Well, the truth is that plenty of folks out there enjoy a nice Cabernet this time of year. Think about it, what could be better with a steak off the grill, or better yet a lamb top round, or... • I'm picking up here where I last left off, halfway through reporting on mostly the 2009 vintage in Barolo. As you can see here, and in my previous report on these wines, the vintage is a bit irregular to say the least with some powerful, structured wines being produced as well as many wines that show elevated alcohols or aggressive tannins. As I... Read More

  • Pinot has been a much celebrated topic here on Snooth over the years I've participated, and it's obviously one of the more celebrated grapes in the wine world. It'll no doubt be a story line I plan on focusing on in years to come so I thought I'd start a thread, logging experiences. Sorry in advance, Greg T.Having said that, I've been mostly dis... • I’ve had Zinfandel on my mind as of late. From attending the ZAP Festival in January right up to my recent efforts to pair grilling recipes with Zins, they’ve been a major focus of my recent efforts. While I have been celebrating the grape, there are so many great expressions available today, there is one aspect of Zinfandel that keeps it from b... Read More

  • Zinfandel, it’s no secret that I’ve carried on a long and intimate relationship with you. There is so much you have to offer. Sometimes you're a bit rough and tumble, edgy, even dangerous, while other times you’re coy or playful. But you’re always there for me, with joyous fruit, classic bramble notes and structure, allowing for early consumptio... Read More

  • I don't feel like iron is a proper wine descriptor but it is something that I recently perceived. The wine definitely was not flawed...it was actually DELICIOUS.Would this be considered as having good minerality? Come from mineral rich soils? It is a Sicilian red wine called Nerello Mascalese and I am not sure if this is a typical trait? I know ... Read More

  • Well most everyone has received their wines and have had them resting for a while. Unfortunately, we had a few shipping issues along the way, but all in all I think we did pretty good. Foxall is the only one not to have received anything yet, while Shi's SS wasn't heard from, but luckily an elf stepped in and sent her some wine. Finally, it look... Read More

  • It’s the holiday season and everyone is recommending Pinot Noir again. What is it with folks, do they just like to take the path of least resistance? Will there come a day when Pinot is not the end all of holiday wine recommendations? Probably not. Lambrusco and Blaufrankisch have a whole set of issues that will prevent them from ever garnering ... Read More

  • Unlike with my pick for Wine of the Year, which is a wine that has moved me and changed my view of wine in some way, shape or form, I award my Winery of the Year selection to a winery that has had consumer interests at top of mind. This can be seen as a vague statement in that most wineries have their consumers’ interests at heart in one way or a... • After last week’s look at value-oriented Zinfandel, I was pretty excited to jump into and taste some higher end wines. I love Zinfandel’s many iterations. From the Claret styles of yore to the fruit bombs that have made bold headlines and big points over the past decade, there is a great variety of styles well suited to many cuisines. Of course,...
