Ste. Chapelle Winery, Inc.
In 1971 the first experimental vinifera vineyards were planted in Idaho by Symms Fruit Ranch, a family-owned fruit producer mainly growing apples and peaches. It is a viticulture rule of thumb that any area that can grow peaches can also grow premium vinifera wine grapes. Today, Ste. Chapelle produces award-winning Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Riesling, and Syrah from the finest Idaho vineyards. Riesling was the first wine produced by Ste. Chapelle from Idaho grapes, soon followed by Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, and Gewürztraminer. Riesling was Ste. Chapelle's first success due to the great, cool growing conditions for the grape. Ste. Chapelle found continued success with their first vintage of Chardonnay, soon followed by 25 acres of Sauvignon Blanc planted in 1986. Ste.
