  • Incredible dinner, one of the, if not best wine dinners I've attended. I did take your advice Dave, with the New York + Lobster Tail, and it paid off. I was the last one with food, well into the night. This was one of those tastings where everyone declared wines in advance. There was a '78 mentioned, though I paid little attention. After all, man... There, I have a few different options of where to put them.1. In my wine cooler, where its kept at a consta... Read More

  • While the world – France included – was pushing for the end of World War II, some of Europe's finest winemakers were, like the vines they meticulously nurtured, fighting through tough social soil to create something transcendent. The result, at least according to a recent auction by London-based auction house Bonhams, speak for themselves – a 12... • Probably the white burg of my life to this beautiful, with much more honey than lemon, still good energy too.Maybe a little heavy on the red cherry for chambertin, but a fun ride anyway.First time with Roumier. The Ruchottes was energetic, medium rich, and rather tannic while the Bonne Mares was seamless and without much current. Remi... Read More

  • I know this is supposed to be a family forum, but this happened last night. First Salon, DRC, and first look at 2010 Barolo for me.'97 Salon: This was very good, in its drinking window. Open and rather gentle, it's more of a soft, elegant beauty with some citrus popping out. Showed good energy and persistence on the finish, suggesting it should ... Read More

  • Mouton Rothschild Pcpb France 1971

Tasted 2/26/11, This wine has had virually perfect storage by the original buyer. The ullage was just below the neck. The wine was terrific. Nice earth and spice, red fruit notes, some chocolate. Excellent balance. A hit for all 6 who shared it in a night with other Bordeaux and a couple of great Burgundies including a 1995 DRC St-Vivant. Read More
