St. Francis on Snooth

  • In keeping with the everyday drinking wines...today we bbq'd some beef ribs with corn on the cob with a spicey BLT pasta salad and this:                                                               Well built and Dry Creek quality. RBA - I've a few St. Francis over the years but have never seen the Cab Franc offered.  Good find.  Any Notes? Read More

  • MJ - It's very nice; gave it about 30 minutes in the decanter before I sneaked a taste.  The pasta dinner turned out to be chicken with some type of secret sauce and corn on the cob.  To quote Sandra, "I lied", when I mentioned that I thought we were having pasta.  She's a keeper all right.  So is St. Francis wines. • Eighteen months in oak should make this a most excellent Cabernet Franc from St. Francis.  It's in the decanter now in preparation for a pasta dinner still in work by my spousal unit (Sandra). Read More

  • The St. Francis wine was a wine club bottle, and Sandra thinks it cost $36, not including shipping.  I'm sure we've had it for a few years. Read More

  • We're not interested in fairness, here.  We're interested in truth.I really liked that LL Syrah/Grenache.  if you thought the St. Francis Bdx blend was better, I find that interesting.  Was the St. Francis wine a club shipment, or did you find it in a store?  Do you remember the tarriff? • MJ & V V - Both were lovely wines but if given a choice between the two, I would drink the St. Francis Rockpile Red.  It was closer to a nice Napa Cabernet Sauvignon which I always enjoy.  The Limerick Lane Syrah / Grenache blend could have used a few more years in the bottle, so it wasn't a fair comparison. • Yes, it was hard to keep up.  We never had a chance to get one of their bottles in time for the VT.  However, I had fun and that's what matters to me most.  We enjoyed a 2013 Limerick Lane Syrah blend and then a 2008 St. Francis Rockpile Red Blend tonight. Read More

  • EM - We can't possibly love every wine we drink.  Just be happy that most of the wine tastes good and we enjoy it.  How do you keep records of wines you like and don't like?  I doubt anyone has a good enough memory to remember all the bottles / vintages that either stood out or were something to be avoided in the future.A few nights ago we enjoy... • RBA-Looks and sounds like a great evening. We also really like that St. Francis Cab from their Lagomarsino Vineyard! We went to a Wine tasting at Best Cellar in Wilton Manors, Florida-just outside of Ft. Lauderdale and tasted through 13 pretty darn goes wines! My favorite was a 2009 Roca Family Vineyards Vespera Blend-75% Cab, 12%PS, 12%PV, 1% Syr... Read More

  • Last night was an evening of watching last season's Game of Thrones series via HBO On-Demand.  We need to still watch a few more but we knocked out three episodes while consuming several types of wine from these three bottles (not all of it of course) and I grilled a rib-eye steak while Sandra prepared artichokes and potatoes for our dinner.  Th...
