THE SPIER EXPERIENCE Spier is one of the Stellenbosch winelands’ most celebrated destinations. The wine farm has sweeping views of the Helderberg mountain range, and lies besides the calming waters of the Eerste River. While producing award-winning wine, and offering world-class hotel and conference facilities, we recognise that we are part of a rapidly changing world that requires a new way of doing things. We hope that a visit to our farm will inspire fresh insights, discovery and reflection as we journey together towards a sustainable future. Spier is located in the heart of South Africa’s primary wine-growing region, just 20 minutes from Cape Town International Airport. We were one of the first organisations in South Africa to be accredited by Fair Trade in Tourism South Africa. Spier was also the first winery to be accredited by the Wine Industry Ethical Trade Association. – Description from Marina23

  • Spier Chenin Blanc 2010

Clear, quite pale yellow in the glass. Very fragrant, flowery bouquet. Initial tongue sensation is crispness, but then sweet fruit comes in--apples, maybe peach, maybe apricot. Nice acid balances the fruitiness. Something like cinnamon at the back of the palate. Very smooth finish. Read More

This proved to me that you can hold onto a wine too long. Reading the notes here today when I come to write my review says drink by 2008, and three years later this wine has suffered greatly. One of the two bottles was corked or had gone bad somehow. We opened the second to try it and my wife and I were very disappointed. The taste was flat and ... Read More
