The site of Mineral Springs, located just east of the town of Carlton, is a source of great excitement to us. Planted to 15 acres of Pinot Noir in 2002 and 2003, and 17 acres of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in 2006, this 250-acre ranch is perched on a mesa with gentle slopes, with commanding views of the surrounding Yamhill-Carlton District. As a vineyard site, Mineral Springs has an extremely compelling confluence of prime exposure, and uniform, well-drained, pale sedimentary soils. Imagine half of an upside-down bowl facing due south - here the vines absorb the sun from an ideal aspect, from morning through twilight. Unlike many vineyards with small depressions and moist swales, this is a gentle, highly uniform slope. We have high expectations for the vineyard-designated Pinot Noirs and Sparkling Wine that will eventually emerge from this vineyard. Mineral Springs Vineyard is planted between 380 and 440 feet in elevation. Exposure ranges from southeast to west, with most acreage facing south and southwest Read more »

  • Hi Guys:In my ongoing saga of trying to learn how to cook, I'm planning on giving lobster thermidor a whirl soon. I'd like to pair it with 2-3 wines, mostly as a pairing experiment to see which works best. Any ideas? I was thinking I could potentially combine the dinner with the vintage VS NV champagne combo I've been meaning to do...other ideas... Read More

  • Lucien le Moine Vosne Romanée les Suchots Premier Cru 2009

    Snoothrank:

Deeply flushed in appearance, the wine presents an overt nose of non-fruit elements: leather, buffalo jerky and North African spices. Cranberries, red cherries, plums and potting soil chime in on the palate. The mouthfeel is soft but balanced with an easy-going juiciness. The excellent balance helps the flavors hold on through a medium-finish. 1... Read More

  • Lucien le Moine Vosne Romanée les Suchots Premier Cru 2009

    Snoothrank:

89 points: Wonderfully fragrant, with spiced currant, sweet aromatic wood, and a bit of camphor. The palate is bold, with anise and licorice over roasted cherry. The palate flavors dance around with achoholic energy. It has a good balance with fine tannins that support, and later coat the mouth.
