Maison Simonnet-Febvre produces and vinifies grapes from the four "Appellation d'Origine Controlee" abbreviated either as AOC or AC: Petit Chablis, Chablis, Chablis Premier Cru and Chablis Grand Cru. The Vineyards of Chablis are world-renowned for their white wines of fresh, mineraly almost steely bouquet, with an ample, generous and zesty fruit palate. The Vineyards are exclusively planted with the Chardonnay varietal, on unique limestone soils, rich in marine fossil deposits from the Jurasic era. Open public Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 12.30am and from 2pm to 6.30pm.

  • RBA, one other thing, the winery Simonnet Febvre is in Chablis, hence the wording on the label, kind of like a Napa winery making a Sonoma Coast chardonnay - you'd see Napa by the winery's name but not as the origin of the grapes. By the way, your post prompted me to open this tonight, '05 Domaine Séguinot-Bordet Chablis. This was a bargain and ... Read More

  • Domaine Simonnet-Febvre Chablis 2011

This fine generic Chablis from a well-known producer (Grand Cru Les Preuses inter alia) has just the right slate mineral, cooked apple and star anise nose to vie for something like a Premier Cru. The palate receives a liberal dose of licorice whip and Granny Smith apple while the finish is crisp and long. Fantastic value. 90 points. Read More

  • Chablis Premier Cru Vaillons Simonnet-Febvre 2010

2010 Simonnet-Febvre Chablis Premier Cru Vaillons $20Tight nose, if a bit waxy, with perfumey hints of hint of spice and fennel over a base of low dusty chalk, dry apple peel and lime pith notes. This shows a surprising hint of spice on entry and remains nice and firm, if broad, on the palate with a tissue-thin lightness to the very lemony fruit... Read More

  • I love this wine. For $10 you can't go wrong, and I think you'd have to spend much more to get a better wine. My fellow tasters and I like the balance of acidity, minerality and fruits. I agree with Greg's eloquent assessment below.
