Welcome to Shirvington. Our aim is to grow grapes that produce super-premium, honest wines with full fruit flavour, and to build a strong and thriving Australian brand that is respected as a leader in quality, consistency and value. Our story started in 1996 when we, the Shirvington Family (Lynne, Paul and sons Tony and Mark), purchased 16 hectares of prime land in Willunga, South Australia. After extensive researching and touring of Australia’s major wine regions, this area was chosen for its ability to consistently produce outstanding table wines of great character and quality. Willunga is just south of McLaren Vale on the Fleurieu Peninsula, an area internationally renowned for its red wine, in particular Shiraz. In the winter of 1996, work began on the development of our first vineyard, Redwind. Further purchases in 1997 and 2001 saw the development of two new vineyards, Kurrawyba and Manjalda, in McLaren Flat and McLaren Vale. Working closely with our viticulturist and winemakers, the Read more »

  • On Friday night we had a guest and some huge ribeye steaks on the grill.  ... ... We really loved the Shirvington.  Definitely an Aussie take on Cabernet Sauvignon.  The AVV Franc was a big surprise, though.  At only $20 it wasn’t afraid of the Shirvington at all.  Great trio.  All are a dark ruby red and full bodied.&nbs Read More

  • A couple of news items I was pondering today.First, Robert Parker came out with his ratings for the 2009 Bordeaux vintage. Ever the masochist, I decided to go look at some prices in the marketplace after the ratings were released. • Shirvington Shiraz Mclaren Vale 2003

Fresh ground herbs greet the nose on this magnificent wine at uncorking, with mercurial wafts of cinnamon, nutmeg, pepper, cloves, and faint rosemary intermingling. At 30 minutes, notes of vanilla, maple, tobacco and graphite join the medley and add complexity. The opulent aromatics continue to evolve and at an hour, fruity whiffs of cherry, ra... Read More

  • Shirvington Cabernet Sauvignon Mclaren Vale 2006

Starts intense and spicy on the nose, with cinnamon, nutmeg, menthol, vanilla and black currant mingling. After four hours, creamy aromas emerge, including dark fruit, and cherry ice cream. Pallette opens with citrus and pleasant acidity in the middle, providing a window to mint and spice on the back. Notes of tart cherry and currant soon deve... Read More
