Since our small winery’s first vintage in 1991, our goal has been to create handcrafted, full-flavored wines that express the personality of the unique Sonoma County vineyards where they are grown. Fred first became known for Zinfandel from his father’s Alexander Valley vineyard, and now his careful hand with Pinot Noir from the Russian River and Sonoma County has quietly gained attention and a steady following. That same attention has made Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah that exemplify the bounty of Sonoma County vineyards. – Description from Dragac

  • Scherrer Winery Chardonnay Alexander Valley 2012

    Snoothrank:

Very similar to the '09, just going to paste my TNs from that one - This is a big, fresh, juicy, Russian River chardonnay. It is well balanced with apricot, honey, ripe pear, ripe apple, nice acidity and a touch of oak. This has great mouth feel and a wonderfully long finish. Read More

  • Scherrer Winery Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 2009

    Snoothrank:

Here are my notes for the '08:"Extremely nice Pinot from Fred Scherrer. Well balanced with nice acidity, dark cherry, rhubarb, some white pepper and a very nice long finish."The '09 is more bright red fruit, less spice and a touch more acidity but still the whole package is in sync with all parts in perfect balance. • DM - Thanks for the info on the Claret wines - I heard something similar to that on one of the wine tours we had in Virginia (it was likely to have been Linden).  And that Navarro is quite nice.  We found that winery on our first tour of Somona / Napa / Anderson Valleys back in 2012 (http://www.bigal-computers.net/wine-country.php).  The owner g... Snoothrank:

2010 Vintage. Fred does it again. Every Scherrer pinot I've had has been spot on, this was no exception. Fresh black, red and bing cherries balanced with notes of cola, racy acidity and a touch of black tea. Read More
